so 2025 will arrive in just a few hours, i want to share some of my reflections in 2024 as an edge painter. i painted fewer books this year than last year. my perfectionism was kicking harder than ever, i fussed over tiniest details even though deep down i’m sure my customers and viewers on social media wouldn’t pay that much attention to the details. it took me a lot of time just to ready myself mentally before painting something that i expected would require extra patience. i wasn’t as productive as i’d like to be, it pained me to turn down prospective customers because of my terrible time management🥲 but also feeling super proud to finally took the daunting step to open for international. still not much for now but i hope next year will be better. 2024 wasn’t “my year” but it’s still something for sure! my goals next year ✨ have specific and consistent time for open commissions each month or better waitlisting system management ✨ paint one of my own book each month, aside from working on commissions ✨ at least send 1 book overseas each month so basically i want to be more consistent lol wish me luck🥹🥹

how’s your reading recap this year? did you manage to reach your goal? last year I used Spotify Wrapped design for my reading recap but their design this year is shitty (sorry gotta be honest) and already overused anyway. then streets were saying that YouTube Music Recap design is way better and I agree!!! thankfully I managed to get the full recap video online because honestly I’m not a YT Music user lol. so here we are. real patience as an edge painter is learned through this: accidentally painting the book upside down and only realizes after the painting is finished 😅 literally every amazing edge painter i know in this app has experienced this at least once in their career. so. are you still afraid to ruin the book?

this was a PHENOMENAL dystopian sci-fi debut. clearly well-researched and well-thought!!! the setting was futuristic but seemed realistic. idk how to explain the story in a short paragraph but basically its about opression in the name of “peace” and villainizing people who wanted to live freely on their own terms. if you’re a fan of multi-POV, you’re in for a treat. the concept of the book is like a collection of personal records of the characters. there were at least 5 major POV plus several other characters that didn’t have many POV but were still have important parts to the story. the main timeline of the whole book happened in just 2 weeks, but there’s a lot of flashbacks that slowed the pace and made the story felt longer. it’s not dragging, though. everything was important and easily understandable, though it required a lot of focus too because if i zoned off even for several seconds i’d lost the context. this book made me reflect on the state of this world today. i felt anxious the whole time reading it. the world was cruel, the main characters were suffering, everything went wrong, hope is almost gone and there were no sign that the story would take turn for the better. it was stressful. the tension was constant, and i had no choice but to follow for the impending doom. i didn’t notice the Ashabul Kahf reference at first until my friend @letters_inkorporated mentioned it and after that i couldn’t stop thinking about it. it’s GENIUS. this book ended in a cliffhanger and left me with a lot of questions. felt like this was just the warm-up for the big main event that i’m sure will happen in the sequel. so yes i’m definitely anticipating the sequel. i hope it’ll come with a map because honestly that would be extra helpful for readers to comprehend the setting’s layout. but otherwise, highly recommended🔥 #fledglingthekeepersrecordsofrevolution #skali #bookreview #bookstagram

2024 udh mau kelar, biasanya tuh pergantian tahun jadi waktu buat orang-orang refresh hopes, dreams, and goals nggak sih? Kamu gitu juga nggak? Kalo iya, I have a perfect book you might want to check✨ Ini buku kumpulan puisi 154 halaman (full English, tapi gampang dipahami kok) yang topiknya seputar dreams. Ada 3 bagian utama: “the unreachable”, “the struggle”, and “the acceptance”. Dari yang kurasain waktu baca, “the unreachable” ini tentang fase-fase penuh harap tapi ragu buat ngambil langkah pertama karena takut gagal. “the struggle” ini waktu kita udah beraniin memulai langkah tapi dihantam cobaan di sana-sini, sering self-doubt kayak kok orang-orang udah pada jelas hidupnya tp kita masih stuck in our mess. Nah “the acceptance” bagian di mana mulai make peace with our own progress and pace sambil terus diusahakan jalannya. Aku jarang baca kumpulan puisi gini, jadi ga bisa bandingin sama buku-buku lain ya. Tapi ini buku ke-3 Kak Afifah yang kubaca dan yang kusuka dari tulisan beliau tuh di awal baca rasanya vulnerable bgt terus pas lanjut baca pelan-pelan puisinya jadi validating & comforting. Kali ini Kak Afifah juga nyelipin beberapa isu politik yang akhir-akhir ini lagi jadi concern kita semua. Keren sih merinding bacanya🥹 Oiya!! Di dalamnya ada beberapa ilustrasi cantik sebagai pelengkap. Terus aku ngide nambahin ombre edges biar match sama spine-nya hehe.
