When learning something new like snowboarding or swimming, practicing intensively for a few weeks helps your body remember it—even if you take a long break. The same goes for Korean! At the beginner level, focused learning over 3-6 months gives results 10x better than stretching it over years. That’s why I recommend beginners take lessons at least twice a week. If that’s not possible now, start when you have more time. But I know 1:1 lessons aren’t always affordable or flexible, so I created a 70-lesson beginner course! Each lesson is 5-10 minutes long, perfect for busy schedules. Launches next week! Join the waiting list for: ✅ A discount ✅ Notifications when it’s live! Ready to start learning? My 2024 Reflections and 2025 Goals✨ Here are some things I tried in 2024: 1. Living in Thailand for Six Weeks I lived my dream of traveling while working! From December 2023 to January 2024, I taught classes and explored Thailand—it was amazing. 2. Making Cocktails A cocktail bar owner taught me how to make cocktails, and I even created my own. Such a fun experience! 3. Trying Beondegi I avoided silkworm pupae my whole life, but I finally tried them this year. Let’s just say it wasn’t for me. 😂 4. Launching an Online Course I created a course that anyone can access anytime. Fun fact: the ad photo was taken at a friend’s house, and I’m holding eyeliner instead of a pen! 😂 5. Vintage Shopping Meeting students from diverse backgrounds inspires me to try new things. This year, a student(thanks Shayna!) introduced me to vintage shopping, and it felt like a treasure hunt—so much fun!😆 6. Wearing Hanbok at Gyeongbokgung I always thought this was for tourists, but I loved wearing hanbok at Gyeongbokgung. I took so many photos! 7. Hosting a Free Webinar As a shy person, hosting a webinar felt daunting, but I really enjoyed interacting with everyone in the comments. 8. Giving Grilled Eel Another Try I hated it as a kid, but I tried it again this year and actually liked it! 9. Filming Long-Form YouTube Videos I started filming horizontal, long-form videos for YouTube. Hoping to do more in 2025! 10. Making a Snow Duck Why didn’t I do this sooner? It’s adorable! 11. Teaching an Idol Trainee This one’s top secret, so no pictures—but I had the chance to teach an idol trainee at a K-pop agency this year. I had the opportunity to assist with translation during their monthly evaluation, and I was deeply moved by their passion and dedication. I worked so hard this year, with less than five days off (even during Lunar New Year and Chuseok!). I met incredible students and achieved so much, but I also felt the impact on my health. So, my goal for 2025? Take 10 days off! It may not sound like much, but for me, it’s huge. I’m already excited!😆 Did you try something new, big or small, in 2024? Or is there something you’re excited to try in 2025?

Originally, I planned to write about how Koreans celebrate the year-end and New Year holidays, but this tragic event has taken over the nation’s focus. The national mourning period will continue for 7 days, until January 4th. During this time, many large annual events, such as New Year’s Eve countdowns and sunrise gatherings, are expected to be scaled down or canceled. If you’re currently in Korea and planning to attend such events, please take this into consideration.

Here’s a clip from last week’s K-Chat Starters webinar! When I was learning English, I found myself saying ‘really?’ and ‘wow!’ all the time when I didn’t know what else to say.
