⬇️Lessons Learned⬇️ I finally got myself a rig! After years and years of working on projects, jamming my pockets full of tools, and countless trips up and down ladders, I finally got myself the new @firm_grip_gear build-a-rig available @homedepot. |AD| What were my lessons learned, time is the only real currency we have, and it is infinitely valuable. Even as a DIY’er the right gear makes the job go faster and smoother. What was my hesitation in using a tool belt years ago? The bulkiness of the expensive rigs, the quality of the cheap rigs, and the inability to customize depending on the job. @firm_grip_gear has changed all that! Their build-a-rig lineup lets me create a rig that fits the job I am about to do! Whether it is electrical around the house or framing a new shed, I can customize to exactly what I want. The variety of belts and pouches are available at @homedepot so next time you’re in the store, check out the quality, the versatility, and design of their gear for yourselves! #FirmGrip #ToughWorkingGear #HomeDepot

End of summer heat can be brutal! I’m installing my @hunterfanco Mosley SureSpeed® fan on an engineered beam. Because the space is tight for an electrical box, I needed to build out the beam to create some space! Now that I finally have the fan installed in the screen porch, I can pull fresh air through the skylights and really enjoy a nice cooling breeze! The Mosely fan is quiet and a perfect compliment for this area. What else do you think this screened porch needs? #itsahunter #surespeed

100 foods by 1!!! We did it! We set out to complete this challenge once we started solids with Noa in March and kind of can’t believe she’s tried a hundred different foods!!! We used the @solidstarts app for helpful info on each food and did baby-led weaning which we loved SO much. It was so fun to watch her try new foods and like them! I was a SUPER picky eater and gave my parents hell 🤣 so the 100 foods by 1 is supposed to help with variety and getting her used to different flavors/textures to prevent picky eating. Anywho, we’ll see what happens in the future but it’s been a fun ride 🍑🥑🍒🍌🍓🍍🍎🍋🍊🥥🥚🧀🥜🍉🥝🥔🍞🥦🥩🥒🥕🌽 thanks to @kndionne @drewwcramer and @klands30 for leading the way and encouraging and supporting our adventure! 🥰

So I ripped off my exterior wall sheathing instead. 😂 As you are well aware if you have been following me, it isn’t a bens_diy project without the siding coming off. My go to is the @zenithbydanco 10” self prying bar for any sort of removal for framing, sheathing, or demo. 🚨 @zenithbydanco and I are teaming up to send one of our followers one of their trim pullers, mini trim puller, and their 10” self pry bar. 🚨 These are the same tools you have been seeing me use in my demos and projects for the last couple of years now! Rules are simple! To enter, simply comment on this post, and follow @zenithbydanco. We will pull a winner on Sunday 8/18/24 and I’ll post the winner in stories! Good luck all! The winner will not be disappointed. #zenithbydanco #trimpuller #selfprybar #prybar

The only 🕷️🕸️ I want on this screen porch is @spyderproducts 😁 |AD| Finally, electrical is here and every step of the way I am using their saws, drills, bits, etc. We now have up lights, soffit lights, flood lights, string lights, heaters, ceiling fans, receptacles, TV, Internet, and sound! What else’s are we missing out here??

This is New Hampshire. Can’t dig one hole without out hitting countless rocks. Especially around blasted foundation. I needed to add this footing in for the screen porch build going on an existing deck. The deck is cantilevered off the main beam so additional footings needed to be added. The vacuum helped get dirt out of the way to see the rocks. At this point the hole was so deep, I was barely getting any dirt with the shovel. Once I finally got the rocks free, they were too heavy to pull out. I was able to reach in the hole and get a strap around it. That helped give me the leverage to pull it out. The hole took a while to dig, but it wasn’t as bad as the one I had to dig under the deck. Some people in another video told me to just pin the footing to the rock. Unfortunately the inspector doesn’t guess the rock size so they needed to come.

This is screeneze’s snap track system 👍🏼 aluminum profile you can miter and attach to an opening. Then you use the polymer cap to snap the screen in. As you snap the screen in a specific order, it pulls the screen nice and tight. I really enjoyed using it. And obviously you can make any shape or size you want 👍🏼 ask me any other questions in the comments 👍🏼

Part three of my backyard renovation! We wanted to add a screen porch off the deck I built a couple years back. In order to handle the weight of the roof and extra materials, I needed to add a couple more footings under the porches posts. Pressure treated posts, cedar rafters with an open PVC shiplap ceiling, skylights, and a snap track screen system all went into the build. This took me all summer to build but worth every second I put into it!

Part Two of my backyard renovation. After we built the deck, I learned I needed to block underneath quickly. The dogs were obsessed with going under the deck for daily socials. I used left over decking to create the deck skirt. I recessed it under the rim joist of the deck to keep the floating look of the deck from afar. I bought a new French door, all PVC/Vinyl because the other one had rotted out. I used a mixture of zip flash and lead to create a drip pan for the door so it’s completely water proof. I installed rock around the property for a nice hardscaped look with low maintenance. Lastly, we had some pretty dangerous brick stairs leading to the back yard. I took it all out and redid the stairs. I used the old brick as well as some granite curbs the previous owner left behind. Cost of the french door was $1200, the trap rock was $300, and the other projects were done with materials I already had. These projects were all building up to the biggest one of all.. the screen porch!
