A hideaway in the heart of Provence was the last, somewhat unlikely home of Jean-Claude Brialy – actor, director, filmmaker, restaurateur, theatre manager, writer and raconteur. The cosy, cluttered drawing room was Jean Claude’s version of a turn-of-the-century interior in a French country house. The 19th-century chauffeuses and the draped table in the foreground were his tribute to the shabby chic look of the late grande dame of interior design, Madeleine Castaing.
