🔌 There are exciting opportunities in our semiconductor industry. Semiconductors power the world and Singapore is a vital part of this global engine. Our semiconductor industry contributes 10% of global chip manufacturing and 22% of chip equipment manufacturing. It also accounts for ~8% of our GDP, and 10% of our manufacturing jobs. Here’s what we’re doing to remain relevant, resilient and competitive: 🌏 A safe and trusted global hub — In an era of geopolitical volatility, Singapore offers a stable and reliable node in the global semiconductor value chain. These include a robust ecosystem, diverse partnerships, strong infrastructure, and consistent government support and policies. 📈 Backing our SMEs and MNCs — Through targeted grants and policies, we’re helping companies manage rising costs, innovate, and internationalise. For example, our Partnerships for Capability Transformation (PACT) scheme defray costs in supplier development, co-innovation, and overseas expansion. Companies keen to learn about PACT should reach out to @singapore_edb. 🤝🎓 And we’re creating good opportunities for our people, by working with SSIA, multinationals and local SMEs to grow a pipeline of future-ready talent. From full-time roles and traineeships to research partnerships and work-study programmes, there are many pathways for students, job seekers, mid-career professionals and others. 🔥 The semiconductor industry has strong potential. From AI and electrification to next-gen wireless technologies like 6G, these megatrends are fuelling demand for semiconductors — and Singapore is well-positioned to ride this wave of growth. 🚀 There’s a place for everyone in this journey. Whether you’re a student exploring, an SME pushing boundaries, or an MNC investing in the future, there’s a role for you. Reach out to @ssiasemiconductor to learn more or get involved. 🎉 Thank you @ssiasemiconductor for having me today. Happy 20th Anniversary! #Semiconductors #SingaporeTech #SmartManufacturing #SupplyChainResilience

I’m optimistic about our financial sector, and excited about the opportunities we are creating for polytechnic students💥🔥 Here’s how we’re partnering financial institutions (FIs) and institutes of higher learning (IHLs) to do so: 🧑💼🧑🎓1) Bringing our community together: This morning, >~800 students, alumni, reps from FIs and IHLs gathered at @ngeeannpoly for the Financial Industry Fiesta 2025 organised by The @ibfsg and supported by MAS. We connected students to internship, traineeship and mentorship opportunities, giving them access to the world of finance. This is the 1st time we’re bringing students from all 5 polys in 1 place! 🛣️2) Opening New Pathways: We announced that 10 FIs will offer ~300 internship and traineeship opportunities for poly talent over the next 1-2 years. The MOU signed between IBF, @uobgroup and @nus_singapore, @ntu_sg and @suss.sg will provide students with training and flexi work-and-study initiatives that can lead to a degree. Since I launched our Polytechnic Talent for Finance Scheme in 2023, we’ve had 9 FIs offer 140 traineeships to students in a wide range of roles, such as relationship management, compliance, ops and tech. We’ll continue to do more. 🌟Shoutout to the youths who joined me for the dialogue: Maggie’s story is inspirational. She started at JPMorganChase with the firm’s 1st Singapore Apprenticeship Program, leading to a full time analyst role and a part-time degree sponsored by her firm, where she is now a Vice President! Rachael’s story is just as remarkable. She studied HR at ITE and Republic Poly, and is now an Employee Experience and Early Careers Specialist at Prudential Singapore. I also got to speak to and learn from Jadrien, Venice, Richard, Wei En, Mourya, Jeffersen and Ryan and I’m excited to see where their journeys take them. 🙏Thanks IBF, IHLs and our partnering FIs for your confidence in our talent, and for availing so many opps to them. My team and I at MAS will continue to partner all of you to grow our sector and talent. If you’re keen on a career in finance, visit ibf.org.sg
⚡️ Kicked off my first meeting as Young PAP’s Chair with my team of energetic youth activists over the weekend. We spent a lively afternoon in candid conversations on youth activism and what we can do even better as a team in this new season. We will focus on developing leaders, youth employability, and advocating for issues that matter, including in the areas of jobs and careers, housing, health, education and other areas of interest that have a bearing on our future. Thank you to my Young PAP family for sharing your views with clarity and conviction. As we put together the team and execute on our plans, I look forward to making an impact with all of you! 💪🏼🇸🇬
At our 2025 Financial Industry Fiesta organized by @ibfsg and supported by MAS. Thank you @ngeeannpoly for hosting and our academic and financial institution partners for your support!
Thank you to our Migrant Workers for your contributions to Singapore. On Sunday, in partnership with @singtel and our local @weare.moca community, we honoured and thanked our migrant workers for their hard work building Singapore. Thank you @singtel for blessing the community with new ways to connect with their loved ones and on expanding our partnership to ensure we can all enjoy our shared spaces here in Little India.
⚡️ A Singaporean family looking forward to National Service, house visits by our Young PAP team, and a wide variety of cases that we’re helping residents with. No MPS Monday is ever the same, and I’m thankful to all our volunteers for serving alongside me.
