Since it’s officially Spring, I wanted to take the morning to show gratitude for my little space away from home. Alice the Tiny House. This space provides solitude, sanctuary and vibes constantly. Named after my grandmother, my tiny home truly holds a special place in my heart. During the Spring and Summer months, the backyard is a magical place. Always in awe at how perfect everything worked out when I found this gem of a home. Can’t wait to add some new additions to Alice this year, making this small but mighty getaway that much more amazing. #Home #Hattie #TinyHouse
This is my home… • Over the past couple years here I’ve had to sacrifice other things to make this house truly a home. Piecing it together room by room, project by project until it became my place of sanctuary. It’s taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears… but I would do it over again if I had to. Although I have a long way to go I like to take a step back and remind myself how far Hattie has come. I’m honored to call this place my home, and will forever be grateful for it. #House #Home #Hattie
When you have the right mindset about a particular thing, you’re better able to handle it. That’s pretty much my thought process when it comes to just about anything in life. The minute I came to the realization that I would never find the perfect home, the easier it became to find the right one for me. While house hunting, there would always be something. An outdated kitchen, no open floor plan … not enough storage .. the list goes on. So, once that switch happen about what the perfect home would be for me, there was an abundance of everything. I couldn’t find the “perfect” home because I would have to make it that way. As unique as we all are, our homes should be as well. If you don’t like a space in your home, if you’re in the market for a house, go into the process with the idea that the possibilities are endless when you make it what you want. —— Transfer this same idea over to your day to day, and that’s what you call a life hack! #You #Make #It
It wouldn’t be me if I didn’t do it my way! The assignment…..make a wreath, but do it afroboho. #Holiday #Wreath #AfroBoho
Me.. you… We … deserve a beautiful life. This very affirmation and mantra is ingrained in the very fabric of all I do. I deserve a beautiful life! Even if that means I have to make myself. Remember through it all, through the mistakes … lessons and blessings … to be gentle with yourself as you build the life you’ve never had. May all your life choices reflect that you love, and understand yourself. Signed - a black woman building a beautiful life. #A #Beautiful #Life
Hello December - talk nice to me. As we approach Winter Solstice this month I want to bring a few gentle reminders to everyone on the last month of the year. —— We have been programmed to think ourselves as unproductive, or even lazy during these colder months. However, our bodies are made of the same things that make up this Earth. We are ruled by the moon, we are ruled by the sun. Nature is telling us to go within ourselves and slow down. Destroy the idea that you came to be constantly working or grinding in order to thrive. Embrace the concept that rest, recovery and reflection are essential parts of the progress towards a happy life. Winter is upon us, YOU are wintering .. and you are right on time.
Happy Food and Friends Day tribe … enjoy today and all the warm and fuzzies that come with it. Even though I speak about gratitude daily, take a moment today to know that we are all sitting in at least one of our answered prayers. I’m grateful for so so many beautiful things in my life.. and today like everyday I’ll honor these things. —— I’m Looking forward to my annual spread of good plant based eats, and some relaxation. #Tis #The #Season
Took a break from the DIY for the night, and decided to refresh and air out the murphy bed upstairs in the loft. The holiday is around the corner, and with guest coming in, I wanted to make sure that everything is ready. —— This girl is one of my favorite features upstairs! Even though I have a guest bed downstairs, the loft was designed to host long term guest who are staying longer than a few days. With a full kitchen and bathroom, I literally set this area up with my parents in mind. My half closet is also in the loft, but if you’ve been around for a while you remember my install of the murphy door that allows me access from the stairway without disturbing guest by entering directly in the room. A few more finishing touches in here, and it will be completely host ready. Truly looking forward to mom and dad relaxing in here, and making it their own when visiting.
We have one full side complete on the wallpaper project. I couldn’t resist getting a progress post, and sneak a little styling in there. Next up is the remaining walls, the nook and then to finish off … trim! This beautiful Plum Kuba Geo Print was designed by my good friend @alldaedae of @printedpatternpeople in collaboration with @chasingpaper. It’s no stranger that I love decor, home and design… but it’s even more special when you get to celebrate the beautiful work from friends at the same time. —— I can’t wait to show you guys the entire room! If you have been eyeing anything over at Chasing Paper , their Black Friday sale is LIVE! #wallpaper #kubaprint #pastesticklove
These past few months have reminded me to get back to a place of patience. Allowing things to come to me naturally. No longer adopting the poor mentally of urgency in all things. Knowing that what is for me, will always find me. Each project has taught me the power of patience. Not stressing over the things I cannot control, but rather give all my focus to the things I can. The kitchen loft is getting a cute little makeover. If you noticed, I showed a quick little peak at the wallpaper that will be added in the coming days. So in the meantime, I’ll be painting, and prepping, in preparation for the fun part. —— Also today we Fall Back. The days will get shorter, the sun will set sooner .. and temps will start dropping. Unfortunately this is also the time of the year where more people are prone to emotional imbalance. The lack of the things that energize us, can truly throw off our internal. Here are a few things tou can do to usher in these changes gracefully. During the day, go outside as often as you can. Walk, hike or standing in the sun will help tremendously. Also get those cruciferous vegetable in twice as much during this time. Veggies in this family include: broccoli, cabbage, brussels sprouts, and collard greens. Since these vegetables are in season, they will be highest in nutrients. Start going to bed a little earlier, get your body in sync with the change. Remember, we should be taking our lessons from Mother Nature. Start consuming your hot teas and stews. This will help your immune system, but it’s also easier to digest during these colder months. Think positive, practice keeping your mind in a state of gratitude. Know that just like everything, there are seasons. Each season is there to teach us a lesson. So be still, go inside and figure out what this season is trying to tell you. #Tis #The #Season
Tonight tablescape, for a very spooky dinner menu. Happy Holloween everyone. #October #Did #ADriveby
Today is a day of reflection. Everyday I truly have one goal, to live authentically, and intentionally. I’m doing so, it sparks the same in those around you. Those who see you, and those who love you. Remember the most inspiring, creative and authentic people don’t show you their superpowers … they show you yours. #Be #The #Change
