I want to finish this year soft, not letting all the bs and hard stuff make me bitter or walled off or cynical, but empathetic, open, & better. I want to finish this year well rested, ready to keep pace, capable of being present with the people around me & the life God has given me. I want to finish this year intentionally, with purpose & most importantly gratitude. I want to look back a little bit & see the things God did (& man, did He do it!) & then shift my eyes forward to what He’s doing. And I want to be ready for it. So whether that looks like naps or lots of journaling or processing with my people or just being in the presence of God, I’m going to finish this year softly, and consider that strength.

You did a good job, mama. You did enough. More than enough. Cheers 🥂

Merry Christmas from the Bayou! We carry the goodness this day represents with us all year long, but it’s just a little more amplified in this season. So thankful for all of you who are in this space to learn & grow together. What a gift!

Every year since forever my dad has read the Cajun Night Before Christmas on Christmas Eve, this year he did it early, so I set up my tripod & recorded it. A MAN OF THE PEOPLE! Honestly at this point, I don’t care which time we stick with, just pick one. Because as it is we’re living through the episode of the Office — snip, snap, snip, snap. You have no idea the physical toll! 😂

In typical mainstream media fashion, I advise you to go ahead and skip reading the incredibly skewed & biased article that accompanies this magazine cover & just enjoy that we made history last month & that this is a cool freakin picture. (I can’t help but wonder how much time the author Eric would have spent criticizing Harris if this had gone the other way, but thankfully we’ll never know.)

With every year that passes, I discover that the real luxuries in life are the people who love you, wide open spaces, work that you love, & the goodness of God. 35 was full of all of those things & I’m heading into 36 expectant & hopeful. Thankful for another year on this planet, for the life God has given me that I could never deserve, & for all of you who hang out in this little corner of the internet. Onward! ❤️
