Despite their potential, many girls opt out of computer science courses in school. Here are three key reasons: ▶️𝗟𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲𝘀 – Many girls believe they are not "good at" coding or that computer science is only for boys, reinforced by societal stereotypes and a lack of female role models in tech. ▶️𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 – Boys are often introduced to coding, gaming, and STEM toys earlier, giving them a head start. Many times the "pink aisle effect" takes place, which refers to the idea that toys and other products marketed towards girls (often pink and with stereotypical feminine themes) can negatively impact girls' interest in STEM fields.
