Babies begin to imitate sounds very early, often before they can even form words. From newborn to 2 months, babies respond to familiar voices and may attempt to match pitch or tone with coos and gurgles. Tip: As babies vocal folds and cords are shorter, they naturally imitate in higher pitch. Try singing songs in a higher pitch to encourage active listening and prompt imitation.
