In Short, Future Now on a post super future asia … a poem by @jasewee @greyprojectssg Co-published by @rockbundartmuseum and @sternbergpress_official In Short, Future Now, is a publication of a long-form science-fiction poem that paints a picture of Asia as a place of flooded ruins, mobile islands, and a period of self-reflection and repair. In this design, we explore and challenge the conventional architecture of the design systems revolving the book. Expressing visually traveling pages and shifting spreads, tilted typesets and the performative aspects of a book.

For @orehuiying We Were Farmers, presented on the occasion of the exhibition of the same name @objectifscentre in 2021. Ore Huiying’s family have been farmers for generations, from the 1960s till 2020. We Were Farmers is the culmination of her 12-year personal project documenting their experience and resilience, and a commentary on changing agricultural practices and urban development in Singapore, through photography.

For @greyprojectssg Inter/Depends, a reimagination of the mutuality and the provision of care, with and through Amanda Heng’s ongoing research into the capacities of conversation in this time of both pandemic crises and digitalized socialization. Inter/Depends is a sequence of digital activations and printed matter that sees Amanda developing strategies of sustaining care and community with an eye on shaping ourselves around a collective future. Drawing reference from the texts, we presented the essays in the form of a self-locking letter. Folding the sheets directly from press without trim, the printers’ marks were deliberately retained as an expression of the honesty in these documents.

A minigame we helped create with and for @rimowa as part of their Ingenieurskunst campaign in 2022. In this arcade style ‘claw machine’ game, players will collect parts to construct the Classic Cabin in the fastest time against the backdrop of a Daft Punk approved orchestral remix of their track “Around the World”. The set is inspired by views of the RIMOWA factory in Cologne. Born in Germany. Engineered for the World. Published by @nationalgallerysingapore on the occasion of the exhibition “Wu Guanzhong: Travelling with the Master” in 2022. The exhibition invites audiences to journey with Wu Guanzhong and his works using several lenses: the conceptual, the physical, the imaginative and the emotional. This exhibition was conceived at a time when travel was curtailed during the pandemic. Through the voices of four docents (the Gallery’s first exhibition co-created with docents), the exhibition attempts to convey the multiple aspects of “travelling,”and how Wu’s art has inspired them to recollect and reconnect with times of carefree exploration by sharing personal stories and photographs. — #graphicdesign #designfeed #editorialgrid #collectgraphics #icographica #designinspiration #book #publication #design #designfeed #typography #studioswell #nationalgallerysingapore #singapore

Of Haunted Spaces – The Films of Ella Raidel Cinema, Heterotopias, and China’s Hyperurbanization by Ella Raidel @ella_rai edited by Ute Meta Bauer @utemeta with contributions from Itty Abraham, Ute Meta Bauer, Marlene Rutzendorfer, and Yu Weiying published by @ntu_ccasingapore As amalgams of the different spatial logics of other places, reassembled by globalization and the fantasies of real estate development, cities today are becoming what Michel Foucault has termed heterotopias. Assemblies of ruins, theme parks, entirely copied towns, simulacra, business districts on a globalized template, reconstructed historic districts, settlements, and ghost towns are finding a new expression in the contemporary world. Nowhere is this more visible recently than in China and in areas coming under China’s developmental influence. Copied cities, ghost cities, and large-scale Chinese investments in Africa are heterotopias because they contain the idea of accumulating different times, cultures, and countries within one place, just as a theme park contains all these different place experiences in a bounded zone outside of its own time and culture. #graphicdesign #book #publication #design #designfeed #editorialgrid #collectgraphics
