Feels like we did a marathon ๐ Whatโs your Lovestory? How fast did you got married or got kids?

HI. ๐ Let me introduce myself. Iโm Eli or Liz (depends who you ask ๐). Iโm 26 years old and originally from the beautiful Graz, Austria. ๐ฆ๐น Most of my family still lives there. Some in the city, some in the countryside, some in Vienna, others in Czech, Greece or the Emirates. So you can see that I grew up in a family which is world open. ๐ I traveled with my parents from early on and I always knew that as much as I love Austria and being close to my family, Iโll call another country my home one day as well. Well letโs say this day came almost 3 years ago when I decided to move completely alone with one suitcase to Shanghai, China. Since I was little I had a big interest in the Asian culture. Especially Chinese food, characters, Geishas, Mangas, K-Pop, Asian dramas and many other things interested me from early on. China, Japan and Korea were especially the countries in my mind and when I finally decided to make the big step and live, work and immigrate to one of them, Shanghai was my first choice. ๐จ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฐ๐ท I traveled to all three countries in my first year here and I love them all. Especially Japan (where this photo was taken๐ธ) will always be a place where Iโll come back to but China filled the space in my heart that was missing. ๐จ๐ณโค๏ธ Can you relate to my feelings? Are you calling yourself another place your home too? Let me know in the comments ๐ #travel #travelphotography #travelgram #traveldiary #travelasia #travelchina #travelchinaguide #traveljapan #travelkorea #travelsouthkorea #ausgewandert #goodbyedeutschland #austriangirl #austrianblogger #austrianinchina #blondeinchina #expatinchina #expatdiaries #expatlife #expatfamily #mixedfamily #mixedcouple #shanghai #shanghaiexpat #japantravel #japanphotography #moveabroad #emigration #secondhome #secondhomes

We attended an open day at a public primary school in Hong Kong today and I have to say it was exactly as I imagined it would be - except for the cross โช๏ธ In fact, there are many Catholic public schools in Hong Kong. The school offered everything from go karting, climbing, dance performances, arts and crafts, singing karaoke and flying drones. โก๏ธ What do the open days look like in your country and what do you think of the mix here in Hong Kong? Is it how you imagined schools in China to be like?

Love to mix our cultures ๐โฏ๏ธ Christmas is my favourite time of year and is simply part of my (๐ฆ๐น) culture. The full programme - putting up the Christmas tree together, decorating for Christmas, opening the Advent calendar every day (regardless of age), lighting another candle on the Advent wreath every Sunday, baking Christmas biscuits together and much more. In my husbandโs home (๐จ๐ณ), Christmas has never been part of his culture. As a mixed family we try to combine our cultures and celebrate both equally, this is not only important for our mixed children and their sense of identity but we love it too. Thatโs why I have added a little Chinese touch to our western Christmas tree and incorporated our Chinese zodiac signs as ornaments in our tree this year. Each of these animals ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ญ represents our Chinese animal zodiac sign. โก๏ธ What do you think about it? Do you also like to mix traditions and make your own ones?
