A project very close to our hearts, we present to you, the Chawanmushi- a collaboration born out of love for art & food. The dish is curated by @samurai_cook , and beautifully Animated by @studiomoebius . Chefs around the world learn every day about food, but this dish has taught us a lot about the way we do things. In 2019, @samurai_cook @nikhilmenon tried perfecting this dish at Mizu while no other restaurant in the country had attempted it. A bold move at a time when the Japanese Culinary narrative started & ended with Sushis & Ramen. A lot of unaccepting critiques, reviews & opinions later, we kept hanging onto our perseverance. We are now happy to see more Indians love & accept this dish. We have always wanted to bring out the nuances of Japanese cuisine, and it has taken a while to bring out change, in our cellular capacity, and we hope this goes out to all the Chefs out there, who believe in something- to Hang On! We wanted to celebrate this by combining a shared love for animation, food & art - and after 6 months of back & forth, conceptualising & collaboration, here you have it, the Chawanmushi, by @studiomoebius & @Samurai_cook. The recipe (still secret), the nuances, and the process finely capture the essence of the dish, in @moebius_in’s beautiful film. Earlier this year, I had a chance to direct and animate this little spot for Public Health England #PHE in collaboration with the lovely folks over at @toadlondon . This piece titled "Love Is Key" was released when the UK was still very much in the middle of their vaccination drive. It was directed towards the youth, asking them to be social but responsible. Special thanks to my ultra talented friend @hanisha.tirumalasetty for agreeing to come on board and knocking it out of the park with the backgrounds, art direction and character design. I then took her scenes and threw in some additional lighting magic. Was great fun to develop this :) See if you can spot all the various Easter Eggs and references in the first shot especially. The wonderful folks at Boutique Fashion and Lifestyle brand @adidem.asterisks approached me to create an animated loop for their Lo-fi Hip-Hop channel and after just one conversation, I knew that @bhattchin was the man I wanted to bring on board for a long pending collab. He absolutely smashed it out of the park with the detailed illustration, inspired by the brand's pallette and aestheic, which I brought to life using some lighting and animation :) Heavy Bojack inspiration on this one, with a set that looks like it's right out of Mad Men. Some moments from my closing talk at @climbk2.sophia last month. Reflected on my experiences running @studiomoebius and being a creative person in India. My talk revolved around leveraging self-expression and one’s own narrative as a creator while also providing creative services to clients, from the pov of a motion-forward designer.
