Another day another super exciting vintage kitchen find. Special thanks to Mr. Serena, who is always ready to inspect the wiring on my new projects, replace wiring and cords and then install pieces for me. This is the first generation of this food center and I got it complete with all of its accessory’s which was very minimal on its initial release. Mine came with a blender, mixer, juicer, and knife sharpener. I currently own most of the accessories. I was able to grab the meat grinder, another model of the juicer, slicer, greater, ice crusher and food processor. The only accessory’s that I do not have is the can opener and the spice grinder/coffee grinder. Let me introduced to you my very own, brand new to me 1960s Frigidaire flare. When I say marketplace has been good to me I am not exaggerating. A few months ago I was not minding my business on marketplace and decided to search vintage stoves and so many came up, but this one stole the show. I knew I wanted a double oven and larger cook space so it was a now brainer this was my stove. However it’s huge and my kitchen came equipped with an apartment size stove so I passed on it. Then my friend at @blueridgetouristcourt kept convincing me how great the stove was so I decided that the only way we could get it into our kitchen was if we moved our huge modern fridge thus making space for this big stove. It was an extremely tight fit so we had to remove the baseboard to get it in. We also had to have the power moved to the other side of the kitchen. Mr. SewRena had to rewire the stove and fix several of the burners this week, but It’s finally installed and I’m so thrilled with it. I know I said that our kitchen was complete over the summer but now that we have moved the fridge to make room for the stove, we have to find a vintage fridge to fit in the little tiny area that the modern stove was in. What an incredible year of creation! This recap doesn’t even include my non-sewing projects. It’s been a year of healing, allowing me to rediscover the joy in parts of my life I thought I had lost forever. My friends have been a tremendous support through my battle with anxiety, and for the first time in six years, I finally stepped outside! I enjoyed trips with my girls, shared laughter, and took my favorite outfits beyond the comfort of my city. I made unforgettable memories, each accompanied by the perfect attire. I collaborated with brands I truly admire—both big and small—and embraced new experiences, staying true to the theme of my page. This year feels surreal; I went from envisioning all the places I would wear my creations to actually taking them out on the town. I am forever grateful for my audience, family, and friends! I hope the only shopping I’ll be doing after this is for cosmetics! Aside from some extra fan belts, I think we officially have everything we need. Normally, we’d be wrapping up our work on the car for the winter, but we’re braving the frigid garage to make the most of Mr. Sewrena’s time off. I’m thrilled with our little progress! I can hardly believe I completed all this sewing in just two days! The kids have matching housecoats, which they’re wearing now, though I’ve made them in the past, so they’re not pictured here. Unfortunately, I had to pause some of our traditions this year due to being unwell, but I couldn’t let go of our matching pajamas—there’s nothing quite like waking up in sync on Christmas morning. I even managed to bake a coffee loaf cake while finishing the hems on the housecoats! We still have the rest of the week to enjoy our traditions, and that brings me so much joy. I usually don’t take trolls seriously; they often say things just to get under people’s skin. It’s important for me to teach my kids that not everyone will like you, so it really matters that you like yourself. I dress for myself, and there’s a good chance others will appreciate it too. If my kids’ classmates don’t like my style, that’s not my concern. Kids can be mean, and if they’re not teasing my kids about my outfits, it could be about our older house or the fact that I drive a late-model vehicle. I refuse to change who I am for those who are unkind—that’s a lesson all kids need to learn, even if mine have to learn it sooner than others. On a brighter note, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my daughter’s best friend is possibly the most extra child in our city! She was thrilled with her outfits this week, and everyone at school adored them. One thing our household excels at is executing a theme. Unfortunately, I caught a terrible cold, which has thrown a wrench in our Christmas plans and traditions. I’m bummed that our favorite activities, like baking and building together, have to be postponed. However, I’m grateful it happened after Spirit Week, which I know my daughter will remember fondly. Spirit Week was always my favorite time in school! I hope you all are doing well and staying healthy. It’s been a pleasure partnering with @americanduchess ! While I’m not usually a shoe person due to my focus on comfort, I wore these beauties daily for almost two weeks and I’m thrilled to report that they don’t hurt my feet. I prefer pumps, so I removed the ankle strap, but I love that it’s an option. The Jessie, a collaboration with Jessica Kellgren-Fozard @jessicaoutofthecloset , is perfectly named. It even comes with replacement soles for the heels, which I truly appreciate as someone who wears shoes until they fall apart. I first spotted this fabric last year, but by the time I got to the store, it was all sold out. I was over the moon when it was released again this year, and I finally got to turn it into a dress! Gone are the days of lining my sink with aluminum foil and soaking my silver with baking soda and hot water. This method works but it’s wasteful and time consuming when compared to using the soft cleanser. I sprayed all the silver down with water then coated all the pieces in the cleanser. It sat for one min then I used the soft side of the sponge to rub all the tarnish away. It took 5min to do three large platters, and very little product. I also used the soft cleanser to remove the rust from my engine shroud before painting. Cleaning is a major part of vintage collecting and restoration and Bar Keepers friend products are one of the only ones I trust on my precious finds. So save yourself the trouble of time consuming scrubbing this season and grab the barkeepers friend soft cleanser for your home and garage. I love holiday baking and bringing the magic to my home. A Christmas roll cake has been on my todo list for years. They say dress for the job you want well when I’m in the garage I’m basically a mechanic 😅 in training 😬. I finally got around to making this coverall. First it took me forever to decide what color once I decided the color and purchased the fabric I realized this coverall was made up of a million pieces. I have been collecting patches for a while. I even made a few of my own so it’s really nice to have a place to put them. Now I need to make a matching tool bag to keep in the car.
