It's not every autumn that Hakonechloa macra goes this very bright orange in Lithuania, burning brighter than Molinia caerulea. Well, this year it did just that! What a shade! Putting in the final touches - the bulb layer. Unfortunately, some of the perennials must be cut down in preparation for the planting 🥴 Not to worry, so much more beauty awaits in the coming season 💚 Magnolias and Cornus kousa have already set their flowers for the next year 🌸 not long to go. @rasa.alex . . . #bulbplanting #ceratostigma #autumnvibes🍁 #gardendesign #plantingdesign #naturalisticplanting #naturalisticgardendesign

The last couple of nights were frosty. One's got to admire the 'devil may care' attitude of some plants ❄️ . . . #autumnvibes🍁 #perennialplants #plantingdesign #gardendesign #naturalisticplanting #naturalisticgardendesign

Can't decide, which I love more - how bright is the autumn foliage of these particular Gillenia trifoliata (growing in rather stressful conditions of extremely heavy local clay and plenty of sun), or how nicely the peeling trunk of Betula nigra goes against the backdrop of red bricks 🍁 Photo @smeliadeze . . . #gilleniatrifoliata #bowmansroot #betulanigra #autumnvibes🍁 #naturalisticplanting #naturalisticgardendesign #gardendesign #perennials #perennialplants

One of the prettiest small trees for autumn interest in colder climate, Euonymus europaeus. Besides, very useful for its ability to grow and fruit well in dappled shade. Mine are especially laden with fruit this year ☺️ which, unfortunately, is poisonous ⚠️ . . . #autumnvibes🍁 #spindletree #shadeplanting #gardendesign #naturalisticplanting #naturalisticgardendesign

Must be one of the best grasses for autumn colour in a cold climate, the purple moor grass (Molinia caerulea). It is also native to our part of the world and pretty low maintenance. . . . #moliniacaerulea #purplemoorgrass #naturalisticgardendesign #naturalisticplanting #autumnvibes🍁 #gardendesign

No autumn garden should go without a Japanese anemone... At this time of the year the majority of perennials flower in a variety of yellow and blue tones, so a bit of wanton pink makes a welcome touch. . . . #japaneseanemone #gardendesign #perennialplanting #perennialplantingdesign #autumnvibes

A bit of structure never hurts a naturalistic garden. As is obvious, the lawn is not irrigated, and seems to be in a process of being slowly phased out by Hieracium pilosella, which I kinda like 💚 . . . #autumnvibes🍁 #gardendesign #naturalisticplanting #naturalisticgardendesign #thujaoccidentalis
