The prefect gift for those interested in gardening, the natural world, and spirituality. Through observing nature we learn to walk more gently through our lives. 'Here in these pages I hope you feel inspired to embrace your garden, no matter what size it may be, as a place to express who you are, surrounding yourself with a space you create and re-create that excites and nurtures you.' From my Introduction in 'Grounded in the Garden - An artist's guide to creating a beautiful garden in harmony with nature', and a selection of photos which appear in the book. My book is available in all good bookshops, online stores and through our website patthanagardenireland.com for signed copies with personal inscriptions.

Do you plant in pots and containers? When you’re putting together a collection of plants in pots, there are many considerations. First: the pot itself. I like to keep to similar materials and shapes. A collection of disparate pots – glazed, terracotta, circular, square and whatever else, assembled because they are at hand in the garden shed– is a recipe for failure. Visually, all are at odds with each other. I prefer to keep similar pots in groups: squares with squares, circles with circles, and generally the same materials and colours together. Before any plants are introduced, the arrangement of pots should make a pleasing display.' Excerpt from the chapter 'Pots, pots, pots' from my book 'Grounded in the Garden', which is available to purchase now on online stores, and good bookshops. Are you a fan of winter? 'Winter is a challenging time for those who yearn for the brighter days of summer. But it allows an opportunity to nurture and rejuvenate, to embrace stillness and move in quieter ways. It is a season for slowing down and pausing for a while to rest and to recharge. It allows time for inner change to gently take shape. It is a period for reflection and planning, and for looking forward to days ahead when it will be brighter. The buds in winter are a reminder to me to practice patience. Just like the leaves inside the bud, I need not feel rushed. I can exercise patience while I examine the things that I know need to change. Change needs time, and, like the trees, I can in my own time unfurl a newer version of who I am.' (Excerpt from my book 'Grounded in the Garden') Previously unseen photos from the garden in July. My book is available to purchase on your favourite online stores, good bookshops, and for personalised signed copies through our website. #gardenideas #gardening #mindfulness #thoughtoftheday #winter #july #gardenphotography #photography

For the garden lovers, and nature lovers. Here are some more images from my book. There have been many great reviews of 'Grounded in the Garden'. Among them, this excerpt by Paddy Tobin for Irish Garden Plant Society 'It is remarkably and wonderfully removed from being another dry, technical 'how-to' book, something more thoughtful, maybe even more spiritual, for the heart and soul of an artist runs through it. This is a book of thoughts and considerations, a book of advice and beauty which will lead you through the many considerations in the creation of a garden. TJ Maher has always bravely bared his soul when speaking of his garden, of nature and our responsibility for its care, a stance which places one in a vulnerable position but love and passion forge bravely when the message is so important to the person delivering it and I hope his writing will bring the message to a wide audience.' 'Grounded in the Garden' is available now on online stores, good bookshops, and for signed copies at our website patthanagardenireland.com #gardening #gardenlover #naturelovers #plants #flowers #garden #gardenwriter #gardeninspiration
