HANEY Congratulations are in order for Cleveland’s own DJ Lord Jazz @lordjazzlotug of Lords of the Underground. LOTUG is being inducted into the National Hip Hop Museum on Dec. 28 in Bethesda, Md. celebrating 30-plus years in the music industry. The National Hip Hop Museum will host its grand induction ceremony and concert at the Bethesda Theater. The event, dubbed the Holiday Honors, will be the largest the museum has ever held. The night’s hosts include Master Gee of Sugar Hill fame, the legendary Grandmaster Caz, DJ Kool DC, Beats by Domingo and the infamous DJ/MC Doo Wop. This year’s honorees include Marley Marl, Kool Moe Dee, Soul Sonic Force, DJ Jazzy Jay, The Treacherous Three, The Fearless Four, Robert “Lee” Taylor, Tony “Mr. Wave” Wesley, John “RAMO” Chartier, Melle Mel and of course Lords of the Underground. Tickets are available at www.instantseats.com and range from $75-$125. The legendary rap trio, comprised of two emcees – Do It All @doitalldu (Dupré Kelly) and Mr. Funke @therealmrfunke (Al’Terik Wardrick) – with Jazz (Anthony Colston) on the 1s and 2s, hit the hip hop scene hard like “boom shaka laka” in 1993 with “Here Come The Lords.” The group’s debut album dropped that March featuring the smash hit “Chief Rocka.” The song brought the group critical acclaim and has since become their signature track. It helped them score a BET Award for Best Rap Group of the Year the same year they debuted. Twenty years later, Complex magazine deemed it No. 85 on its “The 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Beats of All Time” list. LOTUG is readying to release their latest project, “So Legendary” in early 2025. The single, “U Can Get It,” is available now on all platforms. Lord Jazz’s solo project, The “Plain Dealer 2,” is also available on all platforms.
