Thank you Delhi! For the super turn-out and the kind words about our effort and the exhibit. We love you too. . Coming up are all 70 artworks created by the insanely talented artists without whom this wouldn't be possible. Thank you for being a part of Indianama 2017. Next stop : London Design Festival (@l_d_f_official). We're glad to collaborate with @create.culture to exhibit @india.nama 2016 & 2017 at @richmixlondon. . @india.nama started as a one-off last year, and this year we took it many notches up with motion and projections coming into play. Going forward, we're converting Indianama into a place that will work in the direction of promoting the new Indian aesthetic ~ more on that very soon!

Indianama 2024: FOUND: Ambassador by @ashwin.art. April 20, 1969. While the USSR and USA battle for space supremacy, ISRO, in quiet determination, embarks on its own lunar mission. Lacking grand budgets, the Indian team relies on “jugaad” - creative ingenuity. Their chosen lunar rover? The Ambassador, India’s iconic car. With Soviet whispers of technology and Indian resourcefulness, the vehicle is transformed to navigate the moon’s surface. It’s no longer just a car but a symbol of India’s ambition, set to defy expectations and place the nation’s mark among the stars, with quiet perseverance and an unyielding drive to dream beyond Earth. - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. The stamps were exhibited at @methodindia in Mumbai for a limited time.

Indianama 2024: LOST: Dhaka Muslin by @radha_illustrates. I’ve long been an admirer of Indian miniature paintings and even have a set of illustrations — that I call my ‘Ragamala’ series — that have been inspired by them, but I’ve only recently made the connection between Mughal art and Dhaka muslin — the sheer, delicate, lost textile once described as ‘woven air’. (‘Ventus Textilis’ = ‘Woven Wind’ | Source: ‘Our Story of Dhaka Muslin’ by Khademul Islam, aramcoworld.com). With this piece, I pay homage to the original, often royal, patrons of this extraordinary fabric, the exemplary craftsmanship of the artisans, and the natural environment that allowed such magic to be spun. - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. Indianama 2024: FOUND: Censorship by @boketto.on.a.sunbeam. Free media is an expression of the freedom of speech, and the internet is a bastion for free information. Any control of that, is a marker of a government that aims to control the general dialogue through censorship. This piece shows a censored geopolitical map of India, with the pixelated parts showing the states that have seen intense media and internet crackdowns by the government as a method to control the narrative. Actual data of the past 5 years places the pixelated states in the top 10 to have seen such control exercised, with Kashmir having witnessed over 400 shutdowns. - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. Indianama 2024: LOST: Dissent by @smishdesigns. Sangeetha Ma, a Coimbatore based trans activist, started the first trans kitchen in India: Covai Trans Kitchen employing 12 trans women. “It’s important that people of our community stop begging & become self-reliant”, she quoted after its opening. This simple act of dissent was lauded by everyone, but the predominant hyper-masculine society soon reacted. She was murdered shortly after the kitchen’s opening. A trans woman defying every adversity to find dignity through employment for herself and her community was silenced in an extreme way. Sangeetha Ma needs to be recognised and cherished as she is an icon for all of us! - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. Indianama 2024: FOUND: Glasgow Artifacts by @impranavbtw. This piece represents an Indo-Persian talwar, an artefact repatriated from the UK to India. The sword acts as a winding passage between the two countries and is embellished with imagery of the elephant along with the tiger and the unicorn; the national animals of the two countries. One section represents Glasgow through the flow of curves and strokes, illustrated by a contemporary interpretation of the Glasgow Style, pioneered by its native artists and designers in the 1890s. The section depicting India is embodied through symmetry, structure and tessellation with motifs and elements inspired by Patachitra and Kerala murals. - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. Indianama 2024: LOST: Mills by @we_oink. Building blocks of capitalism, they once sparked an industrial and ideological revolution, allowing the economy, unions and Amitabh Bachchan to flourish. Will these forgotten relics find a new lease of life, or be forever consumed by the cities they once helped build? - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. Indianama 2024: FOUND: Rajasaurus by @mraj. The Rajasaurus is depicted as an oblivious ruler owning the cultural narrative of its origins. The halo around the head (often depicted in miniature paintings when featuring kings and queens) doubles as a meteor that’s coming down towards earth. The extinction of the dinosaurs was believed to happen at the end of the Cretaceous period, around the same time when Rajasaurus was thriving. As the last Rajasaur contemplates the beauty of his natural kingdom, he fails to realize the consequences of the meteor. His legacy would be lost for millennia until found again in 1983. - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. Indianama 2024: LOST: Doordarshan by @sumanshantanu. Sarla Maheshwari, depicted on an Indian stamp, captures a moment that feels like a lost artefact from India’s media history. Her anchoring of the first colour telecast during the Asiad Games marked a pivotal shift from black-and-white TV to colour, symbolizing the dawn of a new era in Indian broadcasting. The stamp not only honors her contribution but also connects with India’s broader legacy of storytelling and communication through simple, iconic visuals. It evokes nostalgia for a time when news anchors like Sarla Maheshwari shaped the national consciousness. - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas. With every lyric, every cypher; a gully’s rapper tells a story untold about India’s new found love: Gully Rap. - Indianama 2024 brought together 42 artists to design 40 stamps based on the idea of ‘Lost & Found’ objects, concepts, and ideas.
