These two, larger-than-life figures are Shaka Santa and Tutu Mele. They're two of Honolulu's most iconic and loved visitors each December.

We love all the unique Hawaii-style Christmas decorations. In this photo, there's a glittered-Hawaiian quilt pattern ornament and orchids.

The blowing of the pu (conch shell) has a long tradition in Hawaiian culture. It signifies an arrival, start of an event or other significant happening. In this photo, the pu is blown at the start of the Kuhio Beach Hula Show on Waikiki Beach. The ahu'ula (cape) this gentleman is wearing also has deep Hawaiian tradition and indicates a high ali'i (chief) ranking in ancient Hawaii.
