Creating the garden of your dreams often includes capturing moments in time and memories of travel within the clients brief. Many of us have a plant memory from a grandparents garden, a wedding flower, a scent from a holiday… The garden doesn’t have to be about clean lines and tightly clipped green bits. Have fun with plants and materials. This garden has created a journey through planting where children can play, family can dine together and alone, you can escape to nooks to read a book or enjoy an afternoon snooze in the summer sun. #gardenclublondon #gardendesigner #gardendesigns #garden #plants #planting #green #outside #liveoutdoors 🦺 @gardenclublondon 📷 ©️ @raewarne

An often overlooked view point in urban gardens is the vista to the house particularly when a beautiful period property or stunning contemporary architecture can be appreciated. In this North London garden what would have been a dead space at the rear of the garden is transformed into a secluded and practical deck for relaxing, table tennis and storage. Even in this small space zoning the design maximises the usability and draws the eye through many different angles to enjoy the planting and a greater sense of journey. #gardenclublondon #garden #gardendesign #gardenideas #gardendesigner #urbangarden #planting #landscaping Landscaping: @gardenclublondon Architect: @mulroyarchitect 📸 ©️ @joannakossak

Immerse yourself in the power of greenery 🍃 In this urban garden we used the level change and tall boundaries to create a lush green oasis in the city with varying leaf tones and textures that contrast against charred timber details. The surfaces are broken up to allow the greenery to run all the way through the garden. #gardenclublondon #garden #green #gardendesign #urbangarden #towngarden #londongarden #planting #powerofplants

There’s a balance to strike between soft and hard landscaping to create a garden with atmosphere, a place for nature and ultimately balance the budget. In a house renovation people love to preserve and restore original features so it’s a bit strange that in our gardens there’s often a craving to rip everything out and start again! So balancing your impact on the environment and the impact on your budget seem like pretty good starting points for a garden overhaul right? Using existing plants and trees is another brilliant way to make a garden feel established and often a plant that a client is not so keen on fits in perfectly after a good prune or in balance with the new design. As a general rule of thumb in our studio an absolute minimum planting to hardscape ratio should be 60% planting and try and make at least half of that hardscape recycled from existing materials on site and permeable to keep excess surface water away from the drainage network and avoid flash flooding. Do you have a dream for your garden? Let’s chat 🪴 ✍️ #gardenclublondon #gardendesign #gardendesigner #sustainability #biodiversity #landscaping #garden #gardens

The inside-meets-outside dream. Stunning architecture flows with a beautiful garden that draws you outside to enjoy the sun... or you can enjoy the drama of waving grasses and the shadows of foliage from within, whatever the weather. For this garden we used a range of contemporary materials and soft elegant planting to make an immersive outdoor space over threes zones including lounging space, real grass for barefoot play and a deck for table tennis and larger gatherings. Recycled materials such as the vertical post features were reclaimed from the house refurb to add structure and separation to the rear of the garden in a cost effective way. #gardenclublondon #gardendesign #garden #landscapedesign #landscaping #urbangarden #outdoorliving #gardeninspiration #gardentour

In this garden we designed the outdoor dining area to be a destination wrapped in greenery and framed with an oak pergola and soft lighting for evenings cooking and eating outside. Adding a structure to the garden helps add another layer of atmosphere and interest as well as privacy in urban gardens. #gardendesign #gardendesigner #garden #gardens #pergola #outdoor #outdoorliving #outdoorkitchen

When it’s time to make the garden glow, light the fire and relax. A balanced lighting design adds a whole new dimension to the garden at night and can be adjusted to suit the mood of the occasion. When the nights close in, the garden remains the focal point from your home and the value of a high quality garden design continues to reward. #gardenclublondon #gardendesign #gardendesigner #gardeninspiration #gardenlighting #urbangarden #londongarden

The owners of this ground-floor Victorian flat in south London, who have exclusive use of the rear garden, wanted more from their precious outdoor space than the scruffy lawn they Innerited, with a terrace toc cramped for furniture. “The clients have a real appreciation for nature, and as well as requesting somewhere informal to relax and entertain, they wanted a dynamic garden that would attract wildlife and change with the seasons”. This small garden offers separate areas for eating and relaxing, unified by soft planting. The primary planting aim was to improve biodiversity and add interest throughout the year, with grasses such as Stipa tenuissima and reliable flowering perennials, including Crocosmia and Salvia.
