LIVING • DINING • KITCHEN • as we tend to live a little bit more ‘open plan’ when it comes to kitchen, dining and living now this layout works really well for family living. This design is a bit more ‘broken plan’ so gives the sense of openness but is a bit more cosy. There is a larder area which is totally hidden so it can work as a great storage area and you can shut the door when/if needed. KITCHEN • love these sunny autumn 🍂 days as the light floods in … although it does show all the dirt which is a shame but we can look past that! In this kitchen design the island mirrors the main run of units which sits next to taller bespoke built in storage. This area houses ovens and essential drawers whilst the high built in cupboards are perfect for the larger items. KITCHEN • I’m working on a new design and layout for a large living, kitchen, dining area so I have been looking back at one of my favourite shots from the Edwardian Villa’s large open plan kitchen area. PLAYTIME • it’s Friday (yay) so thought I would revisit this play room from the Victorian detached project. The front two reception rooms had previously been opened up into one large room but we added bespoke wooden doors to zone it back into two rooms and decided to use the middle space as a dedicated play area. BOOT ROOM •these hard working areas are so useful to have if you have the space to accommodate one. This area was the old kitchen in the family home before the renovation, so we divided it into boot room / storage and Utility. Lots of space to store coats, shoes and wellies to keep them out of the way. GAMES ROOM • whilst with a client yesterday we discussed fitting in a potential ‘games room’ within the new layout of their home, so I found myself looking back at the Mansion House project we completed a few years ago. The room was blessed with a pretty awesome statement Royal Doulton fireplace 🔥. KITCHEN • an open, calm, neutral kitchen design. But there was a lot of work involved before we got to this stage!The wall housing the original oven was opened up to link the dining room to this kitchen area and double doors were installed to offer an element of flexibility to the open plan space. The opposite wall was extended out a few metres to rehouse a new oven and more kitchen units. A large roof light was installed above the new oven area to the right to increase light into this space as no windows on this far side and the french doors and borrowed light replaced an old window which also helped with light coming in!
