Hello! 👋🏻 I’m Dr. Kim, I’m a pregnancy and pediatric Chiropractor in Texas. My also Chiropractor husband Dr. Maxwell and I own @integratedchirowellness and @revivechirocypress where we help families live their best lives through Chiropractic care, acupuncture and functional nutrition. ⠀ ⠀ My knowledge of functional nutrition grew when our son Emerson got eczema at 3 months old. I dove deep into that world when conventional methods didn’t work for him and actually made him worse. I knew there had to be a better way to heal our son. Through the help of some amazing holistic professionals our son has been healed since 18 months and a thriving 4yo now.⠀ ⠀ We worked on his genetics, gut health, found his food and environmental allergies, changed our lifestyle and our home. I’m here to show you how your body can heal on its own. It just needs no interference. I feel for you that are still in the thick of it and I rejoice with you that are now clear. ⠀ ⠀ I know that it’s a frustration and confusing time. You’re going from provider to provider seeking help and they’re just giving you the conventional topicals. Not really digging deeper into the root cause of eczema or trying to build a better foundation for the body. Trust me I wish I could help you all and answer all your questions. ⠀ ⠀ But because I’m a provider as well I cannot give you medical advice. I can share what we’ve done that has helped but I can’t give you my opinion in what to do that could be giving medical advice. News flash, you’re not gunna. 🙅🏻‍♀️🚫 Just say no to toxic household cleaners and synthetic fragrances. They’re all harsh and the fumes can aggravate sensitive skin. The lingering synthetic fragrances can trigger flares and allergies as well. This goes for detergents, candles, plug ins, air fresheners and synthetic essential oils too. These are all huge triggers for kiddos with eczema. Yes, this goes for personal care products too. You want to stick to non toxic products for anything that touches the skin and keep it fragrance free. Appa like Think Dirty, EWG and Yuka are a great start to find nontoxic products. You want to stick to things rating 0-3 with 10 being the most toxic. Was this helpful? The healing usually doesn’t happen “fast” when you find the trigger for your eczema. It’s because you’ve been putting in the work and doing the foundational work consistently. So when we finally find the trigger, the healing is “fast” because we’ve already built a solid foundation. We’re not trying to heal just for now, we’re trying to heal for forever. For good. Healing truly does take time and patience. We are in a world where we want results yesterday and with little to no effort. We keep searching for that magic pill or that magic topical that’s going to make everything better. We keep researching for more information, more answers, without ever implementing something. Maybe we do put in the work to implement, but we’re not consistent. The name of the game is more implementation and not more information. We probably know more than we already need to know, but what are we doing with that? We tell ourselves that we’re already doing all the things, there can’t be anything left to do. Ok, but are we consistent, day to day, for everything? If it causes us stress to have to do all the things consistently, how do we bounce back if we take a break? Our bodies were made to be self healing but sometimes it just requires more time without any interference. It requires more patience and time being consistent. Then if we truly feel like it’s “not working” do we know how to pivot. Do we know how to take a new path without losing sight of the end of the trail? With eczema you know by now there is no clear path for healing. Sometimes you’re trying a new topical and you pray it’s the one. You take a new supplement and you pray it’s the one. These are surface level things. It’s the foundational work that you need to be doing, day to day, consistently that’s going to help. The non-toxic living, clean eating, red light using, sun light bathing, clean environment, lymphatic massaging, all the woo woo stuff that you feel like is “all the things.” The consistency of all the things is what matters and then digging into the root cause things will work even better because the foundation is there. We love to go explore new restaurants so for us, that means Emerson gets to eat whatever he wants while we’re out with zero reactions. I can only dream of the day that we can go and he can order whatever his heart desires. I don’t have to tell the girls to watch what they’re eating around him. I don’t have to tell our girls to be sure to wash their hands before touching him. I don’t have to restrict anyone from ordering something that might make him sad. I want us to just go eat freely with zero reactions and not having to pack allergy things. I want us to go to family parties and birthday parties without worrying about reactions. Without thinking about bringing something for him and bringing his own treat so he doesn’t feel left out. Oh I am dreaming and manifesting that day. We are getting there and making it come true. Emerson can eat beef and potatoes now! We tested a scrambled egg and coconut has even been introduced back. This guy can even have shellfish with zero reactions but is not a fan. We are working on dairy next! Oh to be able to give this guy real butter. 😅 The foundational work that we’ve done and continue to do is paying off. Emerson is able to eat without causing eczema flares. When the sun starts to go down our body starts to get prepared for bedtime and sleep. When we’re still working that exposure to blue light can delay the onset of your body’s sleep phase, make you feel alert when you should be sleepy. It can also disrupt melatonin production which is your sleep hormone that’s crucial for signaling your body it’s time to wind down. Food can get contaminated with mold and when you ingest them you’re getting those mycotoxins into your body. Food can get mold through just exposure to warm humid conditions and start growing. These foods can sit in not the best conditions, harbor mold and you don’t even know unless you visibly see it. This includes dairy, nut butters, chocolate, spices, dried fruits, cured meats, tea, wine and beer as well. I’m most sad about coffee having significant amounts of mycotoxins just because of the hot humid conditions beans are grown, stored and processed. You just find brands that are mold free. Wash your fruits and vegetables well in a specific fruit and veggie wash. Throw out fruits and vegetables with visible mold. Don’t cut around it to eat! Reduce the amounts of foods listed to reduce mold exposure. Mold can grow on foods you cook and save too. Be sure to refrigerate foods within one hour to reduce mold growth. Freezing food within an hour would be best. Save for later!
