Today, the Pets of Paradise design team set up shop at @wework.in , and it wasn’t a typical day. I spent the morning reflecting on our product brands, each with its own unique identity, yet all part of POP’s colorful world. For the first time, I truly felt we’ve built something remarkable, team that breathes life into our mascots and carefully studies our past work to plan for the future. It’s a moment I once doubted we’d reach, but here we are. We had a long discussion about why design is at the heart of Pets of Paradise. I may have given more advice than they asked for like that person at a dinner party who insists on explaining how the dessert was made when everyone just wants to eat. But it was important to share what makes our approach special: * Design sets us apart in a crowded market. * It keeps competitors on their toes, unsure of what we’ll do next. * It’s a playground for creativity, where anything is possible. * And most of all, it gives everything we do more impact and reach. By the end of the day, I felt more certain about POP’s place..a warm, creative niche in the pet industry. Anna Nagar friends, did this ad in Chennai Times catch your eye last week? I illustrated this for Haven, a fine dining restaurant opening its third location in Anna Nagar. The ad highlights all three outlets and some key landmarks in Chennai, making it easy for anyone to find them. It was a tight two-day deadline, but with Uncle Sundu’s help, we finished it on time. Seeing my work on a full-page ad for the first time is definitely a moment to remember!

Last weekend was a big one, not just for me but for many kids in Chennai. I was determined to have the witches’ house ready on time and couldn’t let them down. A few days before, someone asked me if I could pull this off on such short notice. No way was I letting the kids see a blank wall! I spent the first two days perfecting my concept sketches and managed to have everything installed the night before the event. Although my trusted print vendor of four years assured me he could handle it on his own, I insisted on being there personally to oversee everything. Today, after a long time, I went back to the basics—glass pen, ink, and paper. This is my second dip pen, and I love how simple the process feels. I pause often, dip the pen, watch the ink fill, and then go back to drawing.

Working from a coworking space for a month has been incredibly rewarding, with plenty of work getting done. The real highlight is watching waves of people on their lunch breaks, mouths full and juggling calls. It’s a hilariously chaotic sight!
