I finally got to see the thought provoking, emotion packed documentary @beyondthegazefilm it’s an intimate portrait of Jule Campbell the visionary behind the wildly successful iconic Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue. Her story is told over beautiful images shot in faraway dream locations that Jule would often discover. It’s also the story of what happens when she takes the lucky grateful models she discovered like me to these gorgeous locations, put them in the perfect swimsuit in the perfect spot, and make them into household names! Giving us careers we never could have imagined ! All her favorite models come back in this film to talk about her and all the ways she changed their lives. And theres discussions about the male gaze and the difference between exploitation and celebration and the reaction the issue received. There’s so much to look at with lots of never before seen footage of shoots in those lucious locations and some scenes with Jule so real and vulnerable that I couldn’t hold back the tears. It’s a must see doc so keep your eye on their website to see how you can see it too. @hbo you must get this one on the air! The fate of our children’s future is in our hands. He has promised to undo every environmental protection put in place during the Biden administration on day one. That will make it impossible to keep climate chaos from accelerating. Hurricanes, floods, droughts, wildfires, mud slides, air quality alerts, water shortages and disease will all intensify if we don’t choose our planet over profits for a handful of greedy corporations. There’s no undoing the climate change we are feeling today, but if we work together we can slow it even stop its devastating progression. And we know trickle down economics is a failed concept, so don’t think that drill Baby drill is going to make you rich…but it could make you sick, (ill baby ill ) Our health is our greatest wealth and we won’t survive without a healthy biodiverse environment. Please pay attention to scientist who warn us about all the many plants and animals and beneficial insects that are going extinct. And remember what happens to them will happen to us next… and nature doesn’t care if you’re Red Blue Black Brown Or White.. there are no borders or walls that can protect you from the the various effects of “unprecedented events”, and “100 YearStorms” that are now happening REGULARLY. We’re all in this together. So we better learn to get along and work together. For the sake and well being of our children action is mandated. We’re all one family on the same tiny boat known as Mother Earth…and Mom is talking…she’s telling us in so many ways she can’t take much more. She’s given us her all. Let’s show her the respect she deserves. Let’s be there for her over the next four years or she won’t be able to be there for us…she won’t have the resources to take care of all her babies anymore.
