Three Seasons in One 🍂❄️🌿 SCROLL LEFT 🍂❄️🌿 Winter in the Walled Garden at Preston Manor is always marked for me by the four statuesque pampas grasses that mark the corners of the central cross path 🍂❄️🌿 The borders are still relatively green with perennial growth, and being a sheltered space there are still some vestiges of autumn foliage, most notably the Strachyurus whose quivering golden leaves persist well into winter 🌿❄️🍂 But there are also rather alarmingly, some early signs of spring with one of the Magnolias already budding up…🌿❄️🍂 . Prospect and Refuge 🌿🍂🌿 SCROLL LEFT 🌿🍂🌿A small seating area nestled in planting and looking out over a large oval lawn and a meadow with panoramic views beyond 🌿🍂🌿 Designed in 2020 and planted in autumn ‘21 this garden is essentially three paths, one straight, one winding, including the seating space, and a wide and stepped cross path linking the house to the oval lawn that provides a foil to the meadow and view beyond 🌿🍂🌿 It looks and sounds simple but the effort that went into achieving the correct levels and exactly the right landform was monumental (#9) 🌿🍂🌿 .
