❓Did you know that you can PREVENT picking eating when starting solids? 🥣By introducing solids with bioavailable animal proteins and fat, you give baby nutrients that she can easily digest, absorb and use. (Not to mention babies love it) 🥩Animal fats and proteins provide the body with essential nutrients, including fat soluble vitamins, minerals like iron, and bioavailable protein for baby’s growing brain and immune system. Not only that, but these traditional foods also shape the Microbiome in a beautiful healthy way. (AKA PREVENT picky eaters 😱) Once meats are digested with no symptoms, non-starchy veggies and fermented veggies are added to further support the Microbiome. 👏 (just wait till you watch your baby throw back some sauerkraut!!) If you are wanting to start solids the gut health way, comment “first foods” and I’ll send you my link. 🥣 Hundreds of parents have used this course to shape their child’s palette and Microbiome from the beginning! ➡️If you have a picky toddler, I have a 4-week course that will help you overcome the challenges of picky eating- from their root in the gut & Microbiome. 🎶We’ll have songs— to help your kid learn about foods in a fun way! 🥘We have recipes and meal planning! So you know exactly how to prioritize nutrient density ever day. ✨you’ll learn foundational principles to nourish your child’s brain and body So that: 🔹meal time is no longer stressful 🔹you stop worrying that your child isn’t getting enough to eat 🔹you have ideas for change and a community of like-minded mothers who are also going through it 🔹you can trust your child’s instincts around food Comment “transformation” to join us! 🧈BIG SALE $100 off Picky Eaters Course through Monday 11/18✨ #pickyeating #pickytoddler #toddlerfood #toddlerlife #startingsolids #solidfood #firstfood #guthealth #plantbasedtoddler #plantbasednutrition #plantbasedbaby

EDIT: picky eater course on sale now. Comment “transformation” for the link! ✨follow @wildnutritionist for more gut health tips for mothers, babies and toddlers! 📢REPEAT AFTER ME: My child is not the boss! ❓ And you know what else, sometimes there is something else bossing them- it’s called GUT FLORA. Gut bugs can rule the roost of your little babe’s world. Demanding this and that, causing meltdowns and aversions and ticks and rashes and a whole host of other things… Yes, even in young babies! 😱 👂When I hear “my baby only wants fruit,” “my baby refuses meat stock” that tells me is that the gut flora (in both the mouth and the gut, needs help) 👏So I approach picky eating as much from a physiologic issue, as a behavioral and emotional one. Why? Because it’s all connected, and we can’t fully resolve it until we deal with the underlying issue- the Microbiome. 👉Some of my tips: ⚡️go slow & meet them where they’re at. @timelesscookery shared yesterday in the GAPS oncon that she has her children scoop out crispy sourdough croutons from a bowl of stock. That way, they get the stock too! ⚡️Celebrate little wins: when your child has even a drop of meat stock or brine, act as if it’s the most wonderful (because it is) and keep going, the next day (or hour) a little more… ⚡️Expect setbacks: it will happen and that’s okay. “Instant forgiveness” as @timelesscookery says! ⚡️Parents: you drink up too!!! Changing the family culture around food is an important piece of the puzzle 🧩 ➡️Intrigued & ready to learn more? COMMENT “GUT” and I’ll send you the link to my free masterclass 🙏✨ If you’ve struggled with food refusal while starting solids, and you are worried about “progress” comment “first foods” and I’ll send you a link to my brand new course for babies! ❤️

🩸if your baby is struggling with iron levels, here’s why I do not recommend iron supplements or fortified cereals 👇 ❌Fortified rice cereal is hard to digest! It became a first food recommendation based on babies increased need for iron around the 6 month mark. But, the synthetic vitamins are not digestible for most people, especially a baby! ➡️secondly, babies do NOT have the enzymes to break down the starch in rice (that comes later in life) ➡️the poorly digested starch becomes the perfect food for opportunistic microbes to overgrow and imbalance your baby’s gut flora ➡️the imbalances can lead to a leaky / permeated gut and weaken digestion and immunity 💊 iron supplements are not much better… they are also contain synthetic nutrients (harder to recognize by the body) and there is often times iron-eating bacteria that is only growing stronger with that supplementation. 👏every single mother and baby I’ve worked with that can’t get their iron stores up until they kick the supplement and start doing this ⬇️ 🥩 Start eating bio-available sources of iron like red meat, poultry, bone marrow and organs. YUM! 🥩why does this work? #1 your body can digest and use the nutrition it’s getting #2 the foods contain iron and co-factors for healthy blood (it’s not only iron that makes healthy blood) ➡️Want to learn more about gut health for mothers and children? We all know winning a battle of wills with a toddler or young child is pretty much a lost cause. ☹️ The adults rarely “win” and more than likely someone ends up with hurt feelings. 💔 ➡️ point being: fighting with your kid over what to eat doesn’t help 🥦🥩BUT what your kid eats really does matter ⭐️and picky eating can have downstream impacts like weak immunity due to lack of nutrients and even mental and emotional imbalances later in life. I share strategies with moms that address picky eating where it starts: in the body! Specifically the gut & microbiome. 💪 😖from my experience picky eating is not just one thing. In order to reverse the habits, mom / dad needs a few things: #1 strong boundaries executed with loving kindness #2 a clear understanding of how the body uses nutrients & what foods are most important for children #3 kitchen skills to turn your kid’s favorites into nutrient-dense delights #4 the know-how on fermented foods, and meat stock- two key gut healers that are essential for shifting your little one’s inner ecosystem. I love helping parents with their picky eaters 💖 you are just a few skills & steps away from enjoying meal times together by balancing the gut microbiome in your little one. I believe in YOU. If you are struggling with a picky eater, comment “transformation” to the link to my comprehensive course. ❓Got questions? Leave them here! 💖💖 @wildnutritionist

😧Okay! Don’t be mad! I’m just the messenger here. Ready to learn? Let’s go 👇 🍠 how well we can digest sweet potatoes and other starchy carbohydrates depends on trillions of microbes living inside the digestive tract. AKA the gut microbiome! 🍠So if your baby has any signs of gut-dysbiosis, I don’t recommend starchy carbs like sweet potatoes, potatoes, parsnips or cassava when starting solids. This research is based on the specific carbohydrate diet by Dr. Sidney Haas in the 1920s, originally helping children with celiacs disease by eliminating specific types of carbohydrate foods. Previously, Celiacs was considered more of a general term for digestive dysfunction (unlike today where it is mostly considered gluten intolerance). The research was furthered by Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride in the GAPS nutritional protocol. 🥔And it goes like this: the starchy carb undigested in the digestive tract becomes fermentable fiber that’s the perfect food for gut imbalances and opportunistic microbes. When healing and sealing the gut lining to solve issues like eczema, food intolerances and digestive upset, it’s important to limit those fibers and specific sugars to bring more balance and healing. ⚖️ So it’s not that this food is “bad” but rather totally dependent on how digestible it is to baby AND the state of their microbiome! 👶 🥕Don’t worry though, there are plenty more easier to digest veggies like squash and carrot that can be your baby’s sweet potatoe replacement. 🍠Does sweet potato work for your baby? Yes or no?! let me know in the comments! Also— if you want to learn more about starting solids the gut health way, comment “FIRSTFOODS” (one word) and I’ll send you the link to my comprehensive course. 🧐Something I had to unlearn when starting solids… Especially when helping my son’s body heal… Is that: Symptoms are messengers ‼️ As his mom, I have the privilege of going one layer deeper to figure out what his body is telling me ♾️ The body is never wrong, and there is always a context for why a symptom is there. It’s my job to better understand that context. 💖 Sometimes that meant taking a break, sometimes that meant topically supporting a symptom while we carried on, sometimes that meant sunshine and rest. And it always meant going easy on myself and reminding myself that I am doing my best and my best is everything to my child.☀️ I help moms start solids the gut health way when symptoms like eczema, allergies and immune issues are persistent. I help moms get out of loops of anemia and low weight. I help moms who feel lost about starting solids and need a clear direction. 🙏 If this is you, comment “FirstFOOD” (one word) for the link. 💖 If you’d like to get to know me better, comment “masterclass” to watch my free class. (Full of good info) With love, 💖Kate Pope @wildnutritionist PS- my daughter was born at home without antibiotics or meds. Starting solids for her has been much different. Got questions? ❓What if I told you that your child’s sensory issues, picky eating, food refusal and difficulty chewing or swallowing has more to do with their gut microbiome than anything else? 👀This might surprise you, but an imbalance of microbes in the mouth may be the reason why your kid only wants certain textures, flavors and tastes! And they’re not wrong! The microbes can actually create really horrible tastes and textures. 🦠 The imbalanced microbes are also responsible for hooking your kid on the sweet, sugary or starchy tastes. 🍭In order to stay alive they release opioid-like substances that go straight to the brain, ensuring your child eats the sweet and denies the savory! ❌🍲 🤯 it may seem crazy! …But, when you consider we have 10x as many microbial cells as human cells in the body, it starts to make sense that the state of the microbes would highly impact our quality of life, or in this case, your child’s! That’s why I teach picky eating differently than most. I go about it via the microbiome of the gut and mouth. 🌳Slowly changing the inner ecosystem with more beneficial flora so that your child can eat a variety of foods with delight! And it works! I’ve had multiple food therapists confirm it themselves. ✅ So if food therapy isn’t working… Or your picky eater isn’t budging no matter what you try, it might be time to go at it from the inside out. ♾️ My course, Feeding Picky Eaters is currently on sale for $100 off!! If you’d like to learn more (follow first) and then comment “transformation” so the link gets to your messages! 💖 📖Head to my stories for details and leave a question below if you have one! 👇 I’ve helped hundreds of parents with this, and I’d love to help you too. 💖✨@wildnutritionist

Calorically Human Breastmilk is anywhere from 50-65% saturated fat. Animal fat— that is, as we are human animals. That alone should clue us into how important saturated, animal fats are for children and their development. We’re out of practice cooking with them, some may not even recognize or know what an animal fat is. 🧈 They’ve been demonized and sold to us as heart-attack, artery clogging foods. But that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Simply put, animal fats are the most digestible & easily recognized fat by your body to use. 🥩 ⭐️You may have heard the names tallow or lard and in fact wonder, are these good for me? YES, they are! start cooking with animal fats. Just that swap alone will start to give your body bio-available fats that are very stable. Animal fats are highly satiating— which means you stay full longer and feel more satiated. 😋 👦 How does this translate for our littlest souls? It means less meltdowns. Calm, focused energy and good sleep at night. Eating more saturated animal fats can ✨alleviate fatty liver disease, (a growing number of Americans, including children are receiving this diagnosis), support brain function and healthy cells, ✨support infant development, ✨help moms recover from birth, and ✨boost immunity due to all the fat soluble vitamins contained in the fat, and the foods that you cook with it. ✨ I teach moms to cook to heal with animal fats, local food, fermented foods because these are the foods we need to reverse chronic dis-ease.🧈🧈 Today is the last day of my sale! ($150 off!!) comment “BFMBB” for the link Curious about my son’s snack? He LOVES @thecarnivorebar bars. Carnivore bars are on sale NOW with a new flavor 🥧🍏 It’s soooooo good. Comment “carnivore” for the link and use code “wild10” at checkout 🥩🥩🥩 💖@wildnutritionist

Peep the studies 👀 PMI: 33186795 PMI: 35002451 PMI: 37492595 ✨No doubt, kefir is the most powerful ferment we consume. My teacher says “the more kefir you drink, the healthier your family will be” 👋And I can attest to this. It changed my son’s microbial landscape for the better. 🫶There’s one catch though- you have to make it yourself! In milk kefir, the lactose and casein is fermented out of the milk, leaving all of benefits of the raw milk like fat soluble vitamins A & D, which are essential for the assimilation of calcium. Raw milk kefir contains medium chain fatty acids which is great for the immune system. 🫧During the fermentation process, lactic acid produces additional vitamins and adds 60-70 beneficial strains of yeast and bacteria. 👶I started my son on kefir around 13 months old. Babies can start sooner, as early or 7 or 8 months, my daughter started at 7 months. My whole family drinks it daily! In my course, Mama Baby Biome, I will teach you how to use the power of fermented foods to create more resilience in your family! ✨ -eczema, allergies & immune issues -digestive issues -sugar cravings -fatigue -leaky gut & so much more ✨Mama Baby Biome is on SALE through tonight. (Biggest sale of the year) At the end of mama baby biome you will experience: 💩Smooth, comfortable & easy digestion (for you and your children!) 🛡️ A robust immune system 😴More energy throughout the day and better sleep at night for everyne 😋A family that enjoys what they’re eating and everyone’s bodies are physically and psychologically STRONG! 💪A sense of victory that you were able to heal yourself and your children and empowerment that you know how to resource your family ❌No more anxiey and stress around what foods work and what foods don’t Comment “BFMBB” for the link to get started!
