“Permaculture is revolution disguised as organic gardening” - Mike Feingold “Cultural Emergence is revolution disguised as a card game” @loobymacnamara Grateful for our extraordinary learning adventures with @SkyeJinArtist sharing a card from Looby’s CEED Deck here. The Cultural Emergence Empowerment and Design Deck includes shares an abundance of thinking tools, design tools, connection tools and reflection tools. I use it daily to support, enhance and uplift the design of my own personal culture. How can I become better? How can I reach my goals? How can I be a more effective decision maker? What can I do to care of myself and those around me even more? @loobymacnamara distributes her CEED Deck directly from the UK. We also have a stack of these decks here in Canada for those here in North America. #lifeisagift #upliftingquote #shareyourgifts #culturalemergence #permaculturelife #regenerativeculture #sustainability #empowerment #lifedesign #becomingbetter #bekind #loveistheanswer #personalevolution #loobymacnamara #permacultureassociation
“There is a story we herbalists have conjured up that I particularly enjoy. Cosmeos, a mythical Greek goddess whose name meant harmony and balance, personified radiant health and inner beauty that flowed from a core of harmony and balance. Cosmeos never sought to mask what she was or how she looked; rather, she fed her inner fire with the eternal gifts of the earth. Her beauty was as unique as the flowers growing wild on the hillside and as powerful as the granite bones of the mountain. Wanting to endow the world and its inhabitants with greater beauty, Cosmeos gave to mortals the gifts of herbs, flowers, and other simple pleasures to nourish the body and soul. The modern word cosmetic stems from the Greek word kosmeticos, meaning “skilled at adornment.” This is precisely what Cosmeos is all about. It was never her intent to cover up; she used her creations to revel in who she was. She is one of my favorite goddesses. I envision her as a wild woodland creature running freely through the forests with her sister herbalist Artemis, whose name also has been immortalized in the name of a plant.” –Rosemary Gladstar Joyed to journey through @ravenhillherbfarm , a ‘beyond organic’ herb and vegetable farm celebrating nature’s abundant diversity of food and medicine. Fieldtrips to a diversity of living classrooms to learn with plant and people teachers are some of my favourite days on the Permaculture Design and Resilient Ecosystems Diploma @pacificrimcollege. “The Earth is like a big beating heart. When humans started to look at the land in terms of ownership instead of in terms of guardianship, it smashed into millions of pieces and they’re still breaking. It’s our job to heal all that and put it all back together.” - Mary Reynolds @wildmarymary Rewild yourself, your yard, your community. Permaculture is a path towards our inner and outer nature. Reshare @brenna_quinlan Feeling a bit meh? A bit disconnected from your body and from the earth? Feeling tired, overwhelmed, blegh, or auto pilatey? We are animals. Animals exist in the ecosystems around them. Like a mycelial network, we’re connected to the air, water, and the soil, as well as the birds, the other people, the microbes, the animals. But modern life tends to separate us. Domesticate us. Push us into a box. We’re encouraged to focus more on career goals, socials likes and our appearance. These hollow measures of success leave us, well, hollow. What DOES nourish us is to go outside. Hands in the earth, diving into a river, ocean spray and stopping to watch the kangaroos watch the sunset. Giving less f-s about what we look like our how important we are. Being real. Rewilding. I’m ready. Who’s with me? How much do you need this rn? “I love gardens. When gardening, or just being in a garden, I feel truly alive, as if the garden connects me to a deep nourishing source of energy. Gardens remain a positive and vibrant joy in the centre of the lives of many people struggling to understand and cope with a pretty stressful and possibly crazy world... When we spend time in the garden we are re-connecting ourselves to the living processes of the planet Earth, our home. Gardening is active leisure: not a ‘pass-time’ activity, but a creative enriching experience. When we garden we make contact through all our senses with the vagaries of weather, the changing moods and demands of the seasons, even the relative movements of the stars and the phases of the moon. In doing so we re-develop within ourselves an understanding of the quality of the fertile processes which make our gardens abundant, and feel ourselves again as part of the continuum of life, rather than separate observers. This process of designing our lives from observations of nature based on seeing ourselves as part of nature has been called Permaculture.” - Graham Bell We are joyed to be co-creating a permaculture design learning garden on the farm campus of @pacificrimcollege with an awesome learning guild @party_wig @_daddyanne @jomelorider @dylanincarnate @youeller @elijahleeimprov @brynnja @songdog_mousing @michellelauraax @gracealchemy with special thanks to @lindenlight our gardening and herbalism instructor on the Permaculture Design and Resilient Ecosystems Diploma #orgnanicgardening #permaculturegardening #gardenersofinstagram #permaculture #permaculturedesign #pacificrimcollege

“Permaculture Design sciences are now used by homeowners, architects, land use planners, landscape designers, farmers, and community service organizations world wide. Instead of the “one size fits all” approach, nature is allowed to direct the land use plan. By skillfully using permaculture methods of site analysis and evaluation, elements such as buildings and roads and practices such as farming and forestry are established only in areas with optimum conditions, working with nature in an efficient and economical way.” - @larrysantoyo Learning and growing together, it has been awesome to explore different permaculture design sites around Victoria with this years Permaculture Design and Resilient Ecosystems Diploma @pacificrimcollege The Vision of the Compost Education Centre @viccomposted is to cultivate resilient communities, which enable the land and all living beings to thrive by reconnectnig many people, young and old, to simple, land based, resiliency practices. The extensive community gardens, and many permaculture demonstrations modelling working examples of things like forest gardens, off-grid aquaponics, composting, rain gardens, mushroom inoculated mulch pathways and organic gardening are an inspiration for affordable, achievable and practical things people can do where they live Loving permaculture design adventures with epic learning guild @michellelauraax @youeller @elijahleeimprov @brynnja @party_wig @songdog_mousing @_daddyanne @jomelorider @dylanincarnate @gracealchemy #orgnanicgardening #permaculturegardening #gardenersofinstagram #permaculture #permaculturedesign #pacificrimcollege
