At @barkha.dutt’s event, she asked Kareena Kapoor what her “unfulfilled ambition” was. My comment on the same question didn’t make it to the video of our interview, so here it is! @wethewomenasia

What an honour to perform at the London inaugural edition of We The Women @wethewomenasia by the iconic @barkha.dutt 🌟 Thrilled to sing The Winner Takes It All by ABBA-especially with the inspiring presence of Dr.Shashi Tharoor @shashitharoor. A full circle moment for me,as Dr.Tharoor had shared my @bgt performance 5 years ago- and now I had the joy of singing live for him. Grateful beyond words for their kind appreciation. Sharing a video from a truly unforgettable evening!💫🎤 #wethewomenasia #barkadutt #shashitharoor #abba #souparnikanair

I was invited to the first @wethewomenasia at @riversidestudioslondon in Hammersmith. The journalist @barkha.dutt dutt spoke to each of the speakers for around half an hour. I missed the morning but had the pleasure of hearing Barkha speak with stand up comedian @SindhuVee, actor @Meera Syal, musician & senior leader in a mining company, Priya Agarwal Hebbar, actor turned politician @smritiiraniofficial , Bollywood film actor @kareenakapoorkhan , film maker @karanjohar and finally my brother @shashitharoor . I missed Sudha Murthy, children's writer as I had left the auditorium at that time. What I found spot on with this first We the Women conference were the questions that Barkha asked. It reminded me of my podcast StoriesSeldomTold. Each person shared stories of their own personal challenges and gave us advice on how to overcome them. Sindhu spoke of colourism in India Meera on the challenges of growing up as the only non-white family in a small English town in the 70’s Priya on the incredible racism in her white middle class English school Karan on being a single parent of twins Smriti on having Rs 200 in her pocket and selling perfume on the streets of Delhi and facing repeated failure Kareena on being judged due to her family name and witnessing her husband being accosted by a burglar And my brother on his various personal challenges. Barkha called me to the stage to speak about my brother too which was a bit of fun. It ended with the phenomenal 14 year old @sounairofficial singing The Winner takes it all. She first shot to fame, aged 10 when Simon Cowell stops her mid song in Britain and gets her to sing a different song The challenges we face in any part of the world often remains the same. How to over come them is what is crucial to know and understand. What was wonderful to hear, was the thread that ran through all 7 of them. -Believe in ourselves. -Be the best version of ourselves -Be comfortable in our skin -Have values & principles but be open and receptive -Learn to love ourselves Simple yet very effective tools to carry us through the journey of life. This is going to be a hard act to follow for next year. Great going Barkha!

'Sitaare Zameen Par' - "It is an emotional and heartwarming movie. It teaches a lot. All of Amir's performances are great, so I expected nothing less. His acting was first-class in the movie... I liked the story as well. It was well-written. Anyone who watches this movie will not only enjoy it but also learn a lot."

Enjoyed a ninety-minute interaction with some 150 Russians studying about India and Indian students in Russia. Their questions ranged from India-Pakistan relations to global neocolonialism and the risk of militarisation of space. A remarkable discussion which was recorded by @RT_com for likely broadcast in a couple of months. And when it concluded, I was gratified to find I had readers and fans even in Moscow! (The last pic features the Russian Edition of #TheFiveDollarSmile — but the reader’s smile is worth a lot more!)

My conversation (in French) with Russian Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) Chair Leonid Slutsky, on Tuesday in Moscow, addressing the problem of Pakistan providing a safe haven for the terrorist groups.
