At the Remittance Association Singapore (RAS), we aim to raise awareness and help protect both providers and customers from fraud. 𝟏. 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐛𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐬 Scammers create fake websites or send messages that mimic legit remittance services. These links may lead to fake sites asking for personal details. ➡️ Tip: Check the URL before entering details. Only use trusted platforms. 𝟐. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐬 Fraudsters may pretend to be family, friends, or officials, asking for urgent transfers. ➡️ Tip: Always verify with the person directly before sending money. 𝟑. 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐬 Scammers claim to have overpaid and ask for a refund. Often, the original payment is fake or from stolen accounts. ➡️ Tip: Don’t refund unless you’re sure the original transfer was valid. 𝟒. 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐉𝐨𝐛 𝐒𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐬 Victims are told they’ve won a prize or landed a job, but must send a “fee” to claim it. ➡️ Tip: Legitimate jobs or prizes never ask for money upfront. 𝟓.
