#yourportlandfirefighters responded to a car fire inside of a parking structure in NW PDX recently. The crews were able to limit the active spread of the fire to the adjacent vehicles and limited the extension of flames to the building as well. #yourportlandfirefighters #vehiclefire #portlandfire #portlandfireandrescue

FF Stewart has been with Portland Fire & Rescue for 20 years and has been with the Marine Program since for the last decade or more. In his role as Harbor Pilot, FF Stewart is charged with safely operating both the Fire Boat and the Rescue Boat at his primary station along with being able to successfully operate all the other boats within our fleet of vessels. Some stations have more time than others and here you see the holiday decorations from Station 2, the training station located out in the Park Rose Neighborhood. The members assigned to Station 2 are always busy training, either teaching or learning skills. With much of the day scheduled to train and learn skills, there is not much time to set up the holiday decorations. Most of the members at Station 2 do not even have an area to relax as upon starting the shift until they turn in for the night, the recruits are in a constant learning mode. This tree is tucked into the corner of the room attached to the kitchen where they eat their meals. It is a space that is time to simply share a bit of time with each other while breaking bread. This little holiday tree is certain to be a pick me up for all #yourportlandfirefighters preparing to respond to your emergencies.

Let's take a moment to honor those who were promoted yesterday in our Preventions Division to work with the Fire Marshal. Congratulations to FF Christine Pezzulo, FF Chris Ivester, and Lt. Andre Bell-Watkins who accepted the position of Fire Inspector. These 3 are currently in their training academy, learning the ropes and taking their certification examinations and will soon be out on the streets as district inspectors, taking note of essential safety items throughout the city. Additionally, and mentioned yesterday, Assistant Fire Marshal Terry Kimmons received his official badge in his new position. Those being served by #yourportlandfirefighters are in good hands with these 4 in the Fire Marshal's Office.

#yourportlandfirefighters responded to a vehicle off the roadway down a moderately steep embankment on Friday night in SW PDX. Crews were able to hike down the embankment and establish a low angle rope rescue component to safely bring the individual with moderate injuries back to the roadway for transport to the hospital. It is not every day we are in need of using a rope system, but when we need to put it together, we rely on our training so this can be done quickly and efficiently so the patient is off to medical treatment as quickly as possible. We train with ropes on our time so when you need us, we are ready to perform. #yourportlandfirefighters #portlandfire #portlandfireandrescue #trainingonourtimetoperformwhenyouneedus #ropesystem #lowangleroperesuce

#yourportlandfirefighters are currently clearing the scene of this fire in the Montavilla Neighborhood of SE PDX. Heavy active fire on the interior of the home with turbulent black smoke pushing out of the windows of the single-story residence was occurring upon the arrival of the first crews. The fire extended into the attic space as well as burn through to the exterior. Crews chased the flames for a few minutes before it was completely extinguished. None of the 5 occupants was reported to be injured but will be displaced from this home. The cause is under investigation. #yourportlandfirefighters #residentialfire #fireextendedintotheattic #housefire #firefighter #portlandfire #portlandfireandrescue #thanksmartyforthepics
