It might have been explicitly stated growing up, but it also might have been more subtle.⁠ ⁠ Conditional love makes us question our worth. It tells us that we have to be a certain way in order to be worthy of love, of connection, of presence, of ease, or of peace at home. The list is endless. This experience sets the foundation for the way we relate to our own worthiness, so when this is the origin story, we have some work to do.⁠ ⁠ The bad news? You had to go through this. The good news? It can be healed. No one defines your worth but you…I know that can be damn hard to believe if the first people in your life made you question it, but I’m here to remind you that wounded people who make you believe this aren’t telling you the truth about yourself.
