Today, Marin County Firefighters out of Woodacre responded to Conifer Way to remove a large fallen tree blocking the roadway. The tree was obstructing access along Conifer Rd., impacting travel for residents and emergency responders. Using two chainsaws, five firefighters, and a can-do attitude, the crew efficiently cleared the hazard. Responses like these not only help the community but also provide valuable hands-on training for our team, ensuring they are ready for any situation 🚒 #MarinCountyFire #CommunityFirst
As we gather for this holiday season, we at Marin County Fire are especially grateful to our community for taking the necessary safety precautions to protect themselves and their families during this celebration. Thanksgiving is the leading day of the year for home fires involving cooking equipment and unattended cooking is the number one cause of kitchen fires. Quick Tips: • Stay in the kitchen when frying, boiling, grilling, or broiling food. • Keep kids and pets away from the 3-foot “Kid-Free Zone” near hot surfaces and ovens. • Keep flammable items away from your stovetop. • Use a timer to remind yourself when food is cooking. • Never cook while sleepy or under the influence of alcohol. • For a grease fire, smother the flames by sliding a lid over the pan and turning off the burner. Never use water for a grease fire. When in doubt, get out and call 9-1-1. Stay safe and enjoy your holiday! …

Thank You, Marin, for Weathering the Storm Together! We’re grateful to report no significant impacts or injuries from this first storm of the season. All National Weather Service advisories have been lifted, though we may see some residual flooding and light rain through Tuesday. Storm Summary: • Rainfall: Marin’s highest total reached 12 inches between Wednesday and Saturday. • Winds: Gusts peaked in the mid-60s in elevated areas. • Fire Stations: Marin County Fire responded to around 15 storm-related incidents, while the Emergency Command Center handled nearly 100 storm-related calls across the County. • Roads Division: Marin Public Works handled around 500 issues in unincorporated areas, including clogged drains, fallen trees, and localized flooding. Important Reminder: This was just the first storm of the season, and compared to past years, it was relatively mild. Let’s use this as an opportunity to prepare for what’s ahead. Take a moment to reflect: • Did areas of your home flood? • Were you uncomfortable driving to work? • Were you prepared for power outages? What can you do now to prepare for the next storm? While County teams work tirelessly to clear roads, manage emergencies, and keep you informed, preparedness is a shared responsibility. From checking drains and securing sandbags to updating your emergency kits, every action you take strengthens our collective resilience. Special thank you to our Office of Emergency Management Coordinator, Nick B, for this picture 📸

Marin County Fire, Scouting America, and SF-Marin Food Bank teamed up yesterday for a holiday food drive. Once a year, Scouts go door-to-door across Marin collecting food donations, with Marin County Firefighters lending a hand using their “stakeside” vehicle. This year, hundreds of Scouts and volunteers gathered an impressive 40,000-50,000 pounds of food to support families in need. The donations were transported via 1537 to the San Rafael Food Bank, where they’ll be distributed throughout the holidays. We’re thankful to our community for allowing us the opportunity to play a part in this effort. #MarinCounty #MarinCountyFire #HolidayFoodDrive
With autumn weather lowering wildfire risks, those with valid agriculture burn permits can now burn in Marin County on permissible burn days. With cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and potential rainfall, conditions have improved for safe burning in the county. Burn Permit Guidelines 1. Complete an LE5 California Inter-Agency Burn Permit: This must be signed off by Marin County Fire. You can also pick up the form at your nearest Marin County Fire station. 2. Submit a Regulation 5 Notification: You’ll need to submit this form to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD). Baaqmd.gov/Permits/Open-Burn. 3. Confirm Burn Day: Always check the BAAQMD website to confirm it’s a permissive burn day before lighting your burn. Fees may apply. 4. Notification: On the day of your burn, notify Marin County Fire so field units can stay informed about active burns around the county. Pile Burning Requirements: • Only burn dry, natural vegetation—NO trash, painted wood, or debris. • Don’t burn on windy days. • Limit piles to 25 square yards and maintain a height of at least 2/3 the width of the pile. • Clear a 10-foot diameter around piles down to bare soil. • Keep a shovel and water source nearby. • An adult must attend to the fire at all times. For those in a city or other fire district, check with your local fire authority for specific rules. Be safe and responsible! Use caution when conducting agricultural burns. Maintain control of your fire at all times. This is essential not only for your property but for the safety of the entire community. #FireSafety #MarinCountyFire #HazardReduction #AgriculturalBurns #CommunitySafety
