Active Duty Death - Fire Captain Michael H. Mercado It is with a heavy heart the #LACoFD share the active duty death (off duty) of Fire Captain Michael H. Mercado on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Fire Captain Mercado was last assigned to Fire Station 90 in South El Monte. He faithfully served our Department, residents, and communities for over 25 years. We extend our prayers and condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Fire Captain Mercado. ย  To ensure the proper care and support of the Mercado family and our personnel, Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone has activated the Departmentโ€™s chaplains, Peer Support team, behavioral health clinicians, and Memorial Management team. ย  Thank you for respecting the privacy of the Mercado family during this difficult time.ย  ย  RIP Fire Captain Mercado ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ•Š

A little insight into night 1 operations of the Franklin IC from the @sikorskyair Firehawk. At night, we fly with night vision goggles that enable us to see hazards and terrain. This view is the fire, as seen with the naked eye. Thank you @jbuter1605 for the footage. To all of the first responders on the incident, be safe and thank you for your service. #FranklinIC #LACounty #lacountyfire #aviation #nightops #airops #losangeles #Malibu
