The Maharashtra government will soon launch a toll-free helpline for consumers to file complaints against food e-commerce platforms such as Zomato, Swiggy, and Zepto, CNBC TV18 reported, citing Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Minister Narhari Zirwal announcement. Zirwal’s statement came during a session of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, where he revealed that the FDA had conducted inspections across 43 e-commerce establishments and warehouses statewide. Several were reportedly found to be storing expired food items and operating in unhygienic conditions. Following the inspections, the FDA issued notices to 34 establishments, ordered five to shut down, and suspended one licence, Zirwal said. He also noted that the state is intensifying inspections of warehouses operated by food delivery companies. The helpline aims to offer consumers a direct and accessible channel for reporting concerns related to food quality and safety. #zomato #swiggy #zepto #food #delivery #maharashta #government #mumbai #news #indianstartupnews
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has revised its guidelines for ride-hailing platforms, allowing companies such as Ola, Uber, Rapido, and inDrive to charge up to twice the base fare during peak hours, according to a report by The Times of India. Previously, the cap was set at 1.5 times the base fare. Under the new rules, fares during non-peak hours must not fall below 50% of the base fare. The guidelines, issued Tuesday, aim to strike a balance between affordability for commuters during high-demand periods and the prevention of predatory discounting by ride aggregators. State governments have been asked to adopt the revised policy within three months. States will also be responsible for notifying base fares for various vehicle types, including taxis, auto-rickshaws, and bike taxis. If a state has not declared a base fare, the ride aggregator will be required to declare it directly to the state government, the report said. #ola #uber #rapido #taxi #cabs #government #bengaluru #mumbai #news #indianatartupnews

Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio is poised to become the world’s largest Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) provider by subscriber base, potentially overtaking U.S.-based T-Mobile, according to a report released by ICICI Securities. Citing data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the report states that Reliance Jio’s total 5G FWA subscriber base, including users under unlicensed band radio (UBR) stood at 6.88 million in May. In comparison, T-Mobile’s subscriber base reached 6.85 million in March. Reliance Jio reclassified about 1 million UBR subscribers under its FTTx category in May, leaving its net FWA subscriber base at 5.9 million. The company added 0.74 million FWA customers during the month. “RJio’s FWA (including UBR) stood at 6.88 million. This, compared to T-Mobile (US player, and the largest FWA subs base globally) FWA subs base was at 6.85 mn in March 2025. Ride-hailing platform Rapido is reportedly preparing to launch a pilot for its food delivery service, Ownly, in Bengaluru within the next 8–10 days, starting with Koramangala, HSR Layout, and Sarjapur, ET reported. During the first two to three months, the focus will remain on Bengaluru, followed by launches in two to three additional cities by September or October, with the aim of reaching 10 cities by July 2026. Rapido is also in the process of formalizing an MoU with restaurant associations to outline mutual expectations ahead of the rollout. As part of the agreement, restaurants are requesting access to customer data—an industry-wide demand that has seen limited success with incumbents like Zomato and Swiggy. In return, Rapido is asking restaurants to offer the lowest cart-level pricing on Ownly, compared to other platforms, and to avoid imposing high packaging charges. #rapido #food #delivery #bengaluru #zomato #swiggy #news #indianstartupnews

A 32-year-old Indian employee working with a U.S.-based client team, in a recent post on Reddit, said that he was told by a senior colleague to stop speaking in meetings because his accent was difficult to understand. The employee said that the incident occurred during a routine project update, part of his regular responsibilities. "I felt dismissed and insulted. I've always made an effort to communicate clearly and professionally. No one else has said anything like this before I have being with the same client for over a year now," the employee wrote, adding that no similar concerns had ever been raised in his year-long association with the client. #US #employee #accent #english #indians #news #indianstartupnews
