Adults can consume up to 150,000 plastic particles a year via their diet — that’s the equivalent of 12 plastic shopping bags 🤯 Here are 5 simple ways to reduce your exposure to microplastics: 🪵 Switch to a bamboo or wood cutting board instead of plastic, which can shed microplastics when old or scratched. Bamboo and wood are sustainable and safer alternatives. 🥤 Reduce disposable plastic water bottle use. Choose stainless steel or non-plastic bottles when possible, and store plastics in cool, dry places to avoid breakdown. 🥡 Store food in glass, stainless steel or ceramic containers. Heating plastics can release harmful chemicals, so avoid microwaving or storing hot food in them. 🧂 If your salt is labeled "sea salt," consider an alternative. Studies show it may contain microplastics that can end up in your meals. 💨 Vacuum and dust regularly to reduce microplastic exposure.
