Despite what my stoic countenance suggests, I had an immensely fun time at the end of last year taking part in a new campaign for @drakesdiary highlighting its Perennials collection. It felt a bit like school picture day, right down to the crowd of familiar faces (and a bit of clowning around). A big thank you to @junyingibson and @finlayrenwick for the invitation to take part, @christinaelliott_ for the styling and @isaacmarleymorgan for the 📸.

About 10 years ago, I had the idea for a blog called “The Search Continues”, where I could unpack my thoughts on style and other personal obsessions. It only took me a decade, but I’ve revived the notion as a newsletter on Substack, where I’m free to pen a 1,000 word essay comparing Ivy style to the Roman Empire, recount my personal history as it relates to the polo coat, and process my intrusive thoughts about Donald Sutherland’s outerwear in Don’t Look Now. All these topics (and many more) have been explored there in length, and you can get it every week(ish) by subscribing. So check it out at the link in bio! And a big thanks to my talented brother @unformstudio for the art.

Excited to make my @gq debut speaking to @thousandyardstyle about his new book Afghan Style, which convincingly makes the case that Afghans are the best-dressed men on the planet. Follow the link in bio for the full story.

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Lenox duffle from the new @ghurka City Collection-which stealthily utilizes saddle leather and dense nylon to build a better bag-and wrote up the results for @robbreport. Follow the link in bio for the full story, which is likely the only luggage review you’ll read all day that references both hot dogs and the British Raj.

Spoke to a whole host of very smart (and not coincidentally, well-dressed) individuals for @robbreport on the books that would make up the ideal style library, from 16th century etiquette guides to 21st century coffee table tomes. Follow the link in bio for the full story with contributions by @g.bruceboyer, @rcallahanphoto, @jackcarlson’ @jkf_man, @permanentstylelondon, @garmsville, Avery Trufelman and Alan Flusser.

New York friends! I Weill be hosting a conversation with @marcotamponi of @sebago_world at the @jpressclothiers Pennant Label store on Madison this Thursday. Please stop by for some drinks and candid conversation on all things Ivy style!

Pleat mania continues at @robbreport, where I delved into the revival of the once detested pleated tuxedo shirt and picked the brains of a wide range of designers and flaneurs including @toddsnyderny, @sidmashburn, @mickaelkorausch of @labowtiquebowties, recent @buddshirtmakers collaborator @wmbrownproject, Chris Olberding of @gitmanvintage and @oliviavillanti of @chava_studio. Spoke with @mikaelkennedy of the great @kingkennedyrugs about his quest to turn 19th century Persian rugs into bespoke duffel bags-and the “punk rock morality” that leaves some of his rugs off-limits. Follow the link in bio for the full story over at @robbreport

My favorite kind of story to write is that of “person doing interesting thing in unexpected place,” and in the case of @mainelymenswear, that happened to be bespoke tailoring in one of my favorite places ever, midcoast Maine. For @robbreport I spoke to Duane MacLeod about how he came to pick up a pair of tailor’s shears at 70, and had the opportunity to shout out one of my favorite men’s shops in New England, @davidwood_style, which was an early supporter and stockist of Duane’s creations. The world is awash in fly-by-night custom shops that promise to do it all without leaving their own mark on the final product in any way. For @robbreport I sat down with a couple tailoring brands offering MTM or MTO suiting, but within the guardrails of what they do best-notably @maximilian.mogg, @husbandsparis and newcomer @wynonastudio. Today in “we’re so back” news, I had the chance to report on @kamakurashirts_global returning to NYC as an appointment-only showroom beside Grand Central, four years after its Madison Avenue Store closed. Amazingly, their MTM shirts still start at $160. A bit more on how they achieve that magic in the full story up on @robbreport, linked in the bio.

Excited to be back in print this month with an interview with @markchodotcom in the October issue of @robbreport, aptly themed around “Success.” Find it wherever fine magazines are sold, or online, for Mark’s thoughts on 10 years of @thearmourynyc, starting the day with a cigar and the concept of “sleep revenge,” which is my new favorite thing.
