Embracing heritage craft with junco. â â De La Espada furniture incorporates craft across a range of disciplines. â â Twenty-Five Bed and Twenty-Five Bedside by De La Espada Atelier incorporate traditional Portuguese basketweaving techniques with their handwoven junco (soft rush) elements. The woven junco adds another layer of tactility and beauty to the products while supporting the endurance of a generations-old skill.â â Junco weaving was just one of the traditional Portuguese basketweaving techniques on display at the recent "Dialogues: Plant Based Design" exhibition at Galeria De La Espada. The exhibition, curated by @passaofuturo was a showcase for traditional Portuguese basketweaving and the design possibilities that can innovate and ensure a future for these crafts. â â Photography by Yuki Sugiura @yukisugiura.photoâ â #delaespada #delaespadaatelier #twentyfivebed #twentyfivebedside #madeinportugalâ â â

Shaker Round Table by @neriandhu is inspired by the simple, honest and utilitarian approach of the movement after which it is named. A round tabletop in solid wood or marble showcases the natural colour and grain variations of the material, and creates an intimate seating arrangement conducive to warm conversation.â â Image: Shaker Round Table in Danish oiled walnut and Black Marquina marbleâ â Photography by Yuki Sugiura @yukisugiura.photoâ â Sculpture by @hedvigwisstingâ Small objects by @engstromagesenceramicsâ Styling by @pernille.vestâ â #delaespada #neriandhu #shakerroundtable #shakertable #diningroominspoâ â

Appearing to defy gravity, Deneb has a striking form that challenges traditional notions of desk design. Designer Anthony GuerrĂ©e @anthony_guerree embraced an innovative triangular motif that evokes a sense of energy and movement in a functional piece. The desk can be specified as a left or right hand orientation, according to the placement of the two drawers. â â Image: Deneb Desk in Danish oiled walnutâ â Photo credit: Yuki Sugiura @yukisugiura.photoâ â #delaespada #anthonyguerree #denebdesk #homeoffice #woodcraftâ

Last chance to visit Dialogues: Plant Based Design at Galeria De La Espada, Porto; open today 15th November 11am-4pm and tomorrow 16th November 4pm-8pm.â â Showcasing innovation in plant based crafts, the product collections on show reveal what designer Henrique Ralheta refers to as âsoft innovationâ; in his collaboration with Isidoro Ramos, they took the idea of a ârodilhaâ, a woven cushion historically used as a seat on the floor, and âwe just put it in a new context. It was already used as seating but we gave it a structure, ergonomics, big proportions, and we created a comfortable chair in the way that people use them now,â Henrique explains.â â The products in the exhibition are the result of design residencies organised by @passaaofuturo and are presented in a way that reveals the research-based approach of the non-profit organisation. Co-founder Astrid Suzano explains: âWe do passports for all the pieces that result from the initiatives that we organise and we always explain how long it took to be made, all the phases, where it comes from, origin, and so everythingâs properly mapped.ââ â Passa Ao Futuro has become an invaluable resource for creatives, bringing people together in collaboration and a shared goal of innovating and strengthening the future of Portuguese craft. â â Dialogues: Plant Based Designâ at Galeria De La Espada, Portoâ Final days: Friday 15th November 11am - 4pm & Saturday 16th November 4pm - 8pmâ â Photography by @inesilvasaâ â #delaespada #galeriadelaespada #passaaofuturo #madeinplatformâ #madeinportugalâ

Featuring exquisite detailing, woodcraft, and ceramic, Arts & Crafts Sideboard was inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement, a design period that champions the handmade and the intersection of functional design and the decorative arts. This sideboard references historic pieces from over 100 years ago and reinterprets them for the 21st century. â â Available in two heights, three widths, and numerous drawer/door combinations. Customisations are also possible.â â Part of the Arts & Crafts cabinet system by De La Espada Atelierâ â Photography by Yuki Sugiura @yukisugiura.photoâ â #delaespada #delaespadaatelier #artsandcraftssideboard #artsandcraftscabinetsystem #woodcraftâ
