7 Simple ways to encourage children to speak their mind: 1. Show interest in your child’s interest. 2. Always ask for their opinion regarding subjects like food, clothes, place, book etc. 3. Always read books to your child and ask them questions about the story. Ask them about the characters, what he/she feels about them. What could he/she would have done if they were them. These short questions will help you understand your child’s thought process. This will help a ton in character building of your kid. 4. Use phrases like: “Tell me more about it”; “How you felt about it”; “I want to understand, can you explain it to me”? 5.Listen with an open mind and correct without criticizing. 6.Show appreciation to them whenever they share their opinion. This will give them the confidence to speak their mind without any fear of being judged. 7.No judgement please. We, parents are their happy space. Recently, I got an opportunity to visit Singapore Recreation Club @sgrecreationclub and experience their Family Carnival event. This club is so conveniently located at B Connaught Drive, it’s so spacious and has the best pack of sports activities for one and all. The participants had an awesome time with their family at the event. There were so many activities lined up for everyone to try their hands on. There was Tennis, Pickle ball, billiards, bowling and even Scuba diving. You can always visit their in-house restaurant Oasis @padang and food corners to munch on some easy bites. It was really heartening to see so many senior citizens and kids dancing together and participating in the Line dance session. It was pure entertainment throughout.
