It’s been a busy week at all CAL FIRE Training Centers as the academies are nearing their final weeks. Fire Control academies at Ione, North and South spent the week testing out their newly acquired skills in scenarios and prepared for their final round of testing. Meanwhile, in Ione Regular Basic Course completed another round of testing and spent the rest of the week in the Mat Room and on the range. Heavy Equipment Operator Academy worked off sight in @calfire_aeu and continued to perfect their skills. Escalon High School Career & Technical Education Public Services Program held their first Career Technical Education Fire Science Competition yesterday! Students battered down doors, tied knots, positioned ladders, and showed how fast they could suit up in the “turnout gear”. @ehs_1stresponders students competed against teams from tracyhigh_ @tracyunifiedschools and Manteca Unified School District. The students learned from each other and from current and retired fire officials from Escalon, Manteca, Modesto, and Alameda County fire departments; Farmington and Lathrop-Manteca fire protection districts; and Bear Training Solutions. @calfiresandiego Company Officers completed water rescue recertification training with firefighters from multiple San Diego County agencies at Ponto State Beach Jetty in Carlsbad, CA. They trained their skills in: • Confidence swimming • Throw bag techniques • Boat operations • Victim rescue techniques These firefighters attend recertification once every three years. CAL FIRE Estero Bay Station #16 teamed up with Cayucos Lifeguards and Cayucos Junior Guards for surf rescue training.
