I just HAD to put this out as a reel - to remember this amazing birthday surprise to celebrate #dl50 50yrs anniversary of @dickleeparadise amazing works! And the chance to have a pic memory with my music idol. Thank you @bee_blackmask for being the best cousin ever!!! The day kicked off with nice food, fun pics with a somewhat “dark and ominous” birthday companion ….then a nice leisurely hi tea before the pièce de résistance - singing along to the hits I have been following since the 80s! I wanted to scream out every lyric I can still recall by heart! Love how Dick shared personal, intimate memories, life stories and inspirations during the concert. I must admit much of the type of music I love today was and is very much shaped by listening to his compositions. And was I surprise to hear that he grew up on Amber Road ( where I am now - next to Chinese swimming club somemore) and oh the song of “Bunga Sayang” resonates deeply in my peranakan roots. Oh and the stories of Dick’s fashion journey…. I still have a pic of myself wearing an outfit that I bought from Hemispheres for my parents’ 25th Wedding Anniversary, just because it was by Dick Lee! Since Dick proudly claimed roads belonging to his ancestors in Tiong Bahru, so can we relate with our ancestral roots claiming Kim Seng Road ha ha! How we Peranakans like to brag….!!! Holiday is over 😢! It’s back to work but feeling creative with my basic trench style dress that I have restyled time and again. Ok ok please let me share just 1 last reel of my recent trip! A dinner of experience, went to dine at @zauo_namba and I love how close I can get to eating “ fresh” with my dinner. We caught seabreams and flounder and had them sashimi style as well as fried. Every part of the fish was eaten, including the bones that were deep fried and served as a snack to accompany our highballs, or grilled fish cheeks as well! The whole ambience I.e sitting in a makeshift wooden boat, fishing “off the boat” and love the beating of the drums and cheers by the staff in good old Japanese fashion whenever a patron catches a fish! A quick capture of our first day in Osaka. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly at #citadinesnambaosaka. Visited the #osakacastle and the trek up there was not so pleasant over one of the hottest days in summer in Japan so far. Beautiful gardens around and lots of people!
