boys will live like this and think it’s okay

thinking more on this. the best people usually carry three traits • drive: they push themselves beyond the default path • curiosity: they stay sharp without needing permission • high integrity: they do the right thing, especially when it’s inconvenient, unseen, or unrewarded. drive gets you going. curiosity keeps you learning. but high integrity is what holds the team together when things get hard. when it’s missing, you don’t always notice right away it shows up later in broken trust, slow hiring, quiet hesitations, stretch roles that never get offered. not because anyone says it out loud, but because belief has quietly evaporated. that’s why high integrity isn’t just a trait. it’s the operating system everything else runs on inspired by @benln's tweet about @pmarca's hiring criteria.

nothing makes you appreciate your hometown like leaving it, and nothing makes you question it like coming back.

startup culture talks a lot about velocity. but speed without direction just means getting lost faster. true progress often looks like slowness, because questioning your assumptions takes time.

funny but also painfully real. @klarnaseb nailed this on @StevenBartlett's podcast: there’s a big difference between contributing to success and just being part of a successful company. don’t confuse presence with impact. https://t.co/H8qpq5omzc

if we’re the average of the five people we spend the most time with, and an LLM is one of them -- what does that say about us? are we becoming more powerful, or just more lonely?
