Selling at the Sleigh Holiday Market in Flagstaff was so much fun! It took a lot of prep, starting with months of collecting Christmas-themed puzzles and quality checking as many as possible. The final push was creating the market inventory which took about six hands on deck! We also upgraded some of our gear and made some fun marketing materials to brighten our spread. All in all it was our best market yet. We sold over 50 puzzles! We’re a little pieced off over here…. Seems like lately we’ve been having a streak of quality checks ending in missing pieces. Beautiful fall puzzles we hoped to sell for before Thanksgiving, including a vintage Random House. The Christmas puzzle was missing 6 pieces! It’s all good at the end of the day, but we really get excited about some of the puzzles being potentially great products, so it can be a bit of a let down. We landed some space in local antique mall, the Cortez Street Emporium, just in time for Christmas! Today, we popped by to change some stickers and add some signage. We didn’t plan to compete! We just wanted to hand out stickers, meet the speed puzzling community, swap some puzzles and see what it was all about. That was our goal in attending the Arizona Speed Puzzling Championship in Phoenix, hosted by speedpuzzling.com this weekend. ⏰ 🧩 But, we showed up early enough and there was still space! So, what the heck, right?! 🤷🏻‍♀️ We thought it was a 500 piece, but turned out to be a 1000 with a two hour time limit. Considering the sisters were hungry and not really into it, we were happy with how we did. Today was super fun because it’s been on our heart since we started this venture that we wanted to find a way to serve people with it, in addition to making money and teaching our kids how to start and run a business! Often when we raffle off a puzzle, a person will either not claim their prize or will tell us to just donate it. We’ve been thinking for some time about trying to find a senior center to provide puzzles to. One day, a lady came to our pop-up and told us to reach out to the local VA. We thought that was an awesome idea, and today we made our first donation that will help both elderly patients, as well as younger veteran patients in rehab. This has motivated us to raffle off higher quality puzzles in the future, as well, so they aren’t just getting our less desirable products.
