More Stuff N Thangs…. Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music Coming 1/27 @twoonefive @radicalmedia @nbcsnl Saturday Night Live is a legendary gig for musicians and bands. From Lee Ving’s Fear encouraging kids to slam dance to “Beef Bologna” to Nirvana playing “Rape Me” alongside Charles Barkley and RuPaul and Sinéad O’Connor ripping up a photograph of the Pope during a cover of Bob Marley’s “War,” the show has seen its fair share of incredible performances. These are to be explored in a documentary for NBC that will premiere on January 27, ahead of its 50th extravaganza. Ahmir ‘Questlove’ Thompson and Oz Rodriguez, who was a segment director on SNL, will direct Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music. It will feature untold stories behind the musical performances, sketches and cameos of the past 50 years. The three-hour special will also feature interviews with musical artists, cast, writers, and producers. These include Bad Bunny, DJ Breakout, Elvis Costello, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish & Finneas, Dave Grohl, Debbie Harry & Chris Stein, Mick Jagger, Dua Lipa, Darryl DMC McDaniels, Tom Morello, Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Rodrigo, MC Sha-Rack, Paul Simon, Chris Stapleton, Justin Timberlake, Lee Ving and Jack White Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music is executive produced by Lorne Michaels, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson, Zarah Zohlman, Erin David, Dave Sirulnick, Jon Kamen, Meredith Bennett, Alexander H. Browne, Shawn Gee & Tariq Trotter. Oz Rodriguez serves as producer. “Everyone knows the most famous SNL appearances, whether it’s Elvis Costello, Prince or the Beastie Boys, but they’re the tip of a huge iceberg,” Thompson said. “The process of going back through the incredible archival footage was like being in a time machine, DeLorean or other. I’m so happy I went on the trip and now get to share it with everyone.”

Book release day! Sometimes you gotta put into the world what it is that you wished for your younger self. My parents were rare in developing my passion for music at an early age and oftentimes kids trying to find themselves get discouraged or embarrassed or shamed when searching for what it is that sparks the fire or their creativity (singing loud, drawing on everything, playing in their food——all of that is the seed to being creative) This book is Creative Quest for the young set. The Idea In You in stores NOW! Link in bio!

Welp @yv3tte_c nailed the past 2 week run (Saudi Arabia/Dubai/Japan/New Zealand/Austrailia) perfectly It’s one thing in your 30th professional year to not only represent your 16 album history and all the peaks & valleys that alone represents But then it’s like you gotta represent the entire history of hip hop and all that it’s given in the past 52 years But then it’s not lost on me we are one of the last few band of black musicians still doing it on this scale (& skill level) at this height. But then I also can’t ignore the history of black music and all the genre’s represented and the blessing & burden of carrying ALL OF THE RECIPES in your pocket. We aren’t just @TheRoots air quote anymore. We are gospel & the blues & country & doo wop & jazz & rock n roll & psychedelica & funk & disco & hip hop & new wave & pop & ac & house & jungle & dubstep and all the stops in between The Traveling Musical Diplomats who in 2 hours have to be EVERYTHING THERE EVER WAS——-and also? Ourselves. If you followed the IG stories you saw me wondering how on god’s green earth did we travel for 200 dates in (Organix)93 & (From The Ground Up)94 & (Do You Want More)95 & (Illadelph Halflife)96 & 97 & 98 & (Things Fall Apart/The Legendary/The Roots Come Alive)99 & 00 & 01 & (Phrenology)02 & 03 & (The Tipping Point)04 & (Homegrown: The Beginners Guide To Understanding The Roots Vol 1 & 2)05 & (Game Theory)06 & 07 & (Rising Down)08 &…… although finding “normalcy” once @fallontonight came into view it was STILL a 300 day a year & some existence for 09 & (How I Got Over/Betty Wright The Movie/Wake Up!)10 & (Undun)11 & 12 & (Wise Up Ghost)13 & (& Then You Shoot Your Cousin)14 & 6 Black Thought projects & a grip of stuff in this collective——-in short we got HISTORY To still have THIS much fun this further in the game is 🤯 mind blowing to me. I wouldn’t leave this to go to heaven.

Excellent example of choosing the right circle of friends. My entire circle is about having a dream, not getting in their own way of seeing that dream through and MANIFESTING that ish. From soup to nuts, thinking about it, dreaming it & making it happen. This is what my comrades in my age group would say “is up” @traphausfit by @weezywtf opening in NYC Jan 8th 2025. Proud Of You For Seeing This Thru!!
