Is there actual peer reviewed scientific evidence to support this? As we know in the leather world the true science is often deliberately obscured around emotional language like “kill zones” which always make me suspicious

This decline has been steadily observed and forecast, but these figures now emphasise the reality. No need to panic over ever increasing numbers.
