The deal, which has been in the works for over a year, marks the first time Snapchat has accepted a media outlet focused on providing coverage for and by the Black LGBTQ+ community exclusively onto its platform. This historic partnership, facilitated by visionary creative executive Des Gray (@thedesgray), united the two entities. Through Gray’s efforts, Gaye Magazine will now expand its reach to a broader audience, highlighting Snapchat and Gaye Magazine’s ongoing commitment and dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices and highlighting stories within the Black LGBTQ+ community. #GayeProposals — Moments after being sworn in to office on Tuesday, Texas state representative Venton Jones, one of the first Black gay men to serve in the Texas legislature, proposed to his longtime partner, Gregory Scott Jr., on the floor of the Texas House. “Today, I took a renewed oath to serve my community with courage, conviction and love. I made a promise to the person who has stood beside me through every step of this journey,” the newly elected minority party whip said in a statement. Jones continued, “In a time when our love and our very existence are challenged, often in the halls of this very building, this moment is a reminder that love conquers all.” “Gregory and I stand as proof that progress is unstoppable, and no amount of hate can erase the truth of who we are.”  Gaye Magazine previously reported on Venton Jones 2022 campaign, as he ran for his District in Dallas. “Being Black, being LGBT and being HIV positive — it is an experience that has taught me so much about the importance of representation, the importance of equity, the importance of everything we’re fighting for,” Jones stated.
