The Creative Director of Chanel is THE job for many fashion devotees around the world, and following the vacancy left when Karl Lagerfeld’s successor Virginie Viard bowed out in June, swirling rumors reached tornado status. Now the wind has settled, and Matthieu Blazy has snagged the top spot, also effectively ending rumors it would go to Marc Jacobs, Simon Porte Jacquemus or Hedi Slimane. In the three years since he was named creative director at Bottega Veneta, he’s risen from an IYKYK insider name to something of a household one, and at Chanel he’ll have some mighty big shoes to fill. Blazy is capable, having inherited Bottega Veneta while it was on an upright trajectory and continuing it ’til the rather IYKYK brand itself reached household name. Blazy’s strengths will translate well to Chanel’s codes, from surface embellishment and fabric development (uh, tweed!) to knitwear, and it will be exciting to see what he’ll do with accessories. Handbags and shoes are the bread and butter for many houses, and when his avant-garde POV in these areas meets Chanel’s craftsmanship, there are sure to be sparks. Remember he worked closely under Phoebe Philo… In another exciting twist, Louise Trotter will be taking over Blazy’s post at Bottega Veneta, becoming the sole female CD at a brand under Kering’s umbrella. She leaves a vacant seat at Carven. Another opening? Maison Margiela, which has been under the direction of the legendary John Galliano for a decade. His departure was announced yesterday, also leading to rumors of where he might wind up, many fantasizing about the possibility of his return to Dior. So, is the music still playing in luxury fashion musical chairs? Which players do you want to see land in which spots? 👀 #matthieublazy #louisetrotter #fashion #luxury #chanel #bottegaveneta #phoebephilo #dior #director #creative #runway #fashionweek #france #italy #margiela #handbag #shoes #creativedirector #designer #style #ootd #wiwt #predictions #breaking #news #viral #story #instagood #reels #dietprada

Donald Trump has once again been named Time’s ‘Person of the Year,’ the publication announced Thursday. Ew. “For 97 years, the editors of TIME have been picking the Person of the Year: the individual who, for better or for worse, did the most to shape the world and the headlines over the past 12 months. In many years, that choice is a difficult one. In 2024, it was not,” said Editor-in-Chief Sam Jacobs. On Nov. 25, Trump was interviewed for the cover story at Mar-a-Lago. The full transcript was published, along with a fact-check and context of several false statements made during the conversation. These included comparisons of unfair treatment between Jan. 6 insurrectionists and protesters advocating for justice following the murder of George Floyd, claiming there is a “very high percentage” of people who regret gender affirming surgeries, and even linking vaccines to autism. For someone who spent his entire presidency and campaign attacking “fake news,” it’s frustrating witnessing what seems to be a shift from fact-based journalism to promoting this mess. Swipe to see some of the ridiculous claims he made and the data that debunks them. #2024 #time #us #america #journalism #reporting #facts #news #story #viral #instagood #democracy #idiocracy #comment #share #breaking #fyp #reels #timemagazine #magazine #interview #healthcare #protest #world #timeline #feed #headlines #washington #cover #dietprada

Luigi Mangione has been charged in connection to the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Since his arrest, he has been denied bail and is being held at a state correctional institution in Pennsylvania. Mangione’s manifesto was obtained by several major media outlets, but many have withheld from publishing it in full. As of our publishing, NYT has not yet cited his manifesto, but has released excerpts from his notebook: “What do you do? You wack the CEO at the annual parasitic bean-counter convention,” he wrote.   The Washington Post has written about the existence of “a handwritten document,” quoting NYPD Chief Joseph Kenny, saying the writer has “ill will toward corporate America.” CNN and NBC referenced the lines, “these parasites had it coming,” and his apology for “any strife or trauma.” Critics speculate conflicts of interest with the healthcare industry as the reason behind major news orgs withholding the full manifesto.  For example, Beth Brooke, a board director for NYT, also serves the Board of Directors at eHealthInsurance. Madeline Bell, a board director for Comcast (which owns NBC) is also the CEO of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Paula Price, a board member for Warner Bros. (which owns CNN) previously served as Senior VP of Aetna, a health insurance company. The precedent for legacy media publishing manifestos has largely been done in collaboration with law enforcement to help identify unknown fugitives. The unabomber’s manifesto, titled “Industrial Society and Its Future”—which Mangione allegedly reviewed on Goodreads—was published by the Washington Post and NYT. Six months later, it helped lead to Theodore Kaczynski’s arrest. Some argued that publishing the manifesto compromised journalistic independence and set a harmful precedent, while the Newspaper Association of America reported a split on the issue at that time. Mangione’s 262-word manifesto was published on Substack by independent journalist Ken Klippenstein yesterday. Klippenstein’s queries to NYT, Washington Post, CNN and NBC–on why they have withheld publishing the full manifesto–have been unanswered. #news #story #usa #healthcare #debt #reels #luigi #dietprada

The 82nd Annual Golden Globe nominations were revealed on Monday, with musical thriller ‘Emilia Pérez’ stealing the show with ten film nominations and ‘The Bear’ leading TV with five. Denzel Washington made history by earning his 11th nomination, becoming the most-nominated Black performer in Golden Globes history. Fans of ‘Wicked’ were surprised by the snub of director Jon M. Chu, who was left off the list, despite the film earning four nods, including Best Comedy/Musical and Best Cinematic Box Office Achievement. Meanwhile, Cynthia Erivo was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy/Musical, alongside Ariana Grande for Best Supporting Actress—both earning their first Golden Globe nominations. Other first-time nominees include Pamela Anderson, Zoe Saldaña, and Nikki Glaser, who will host the ceremony. The Golden Globes doubled down on recognition this year for Selena Gomez (‘Emilia Pérez’ and ‘Only Murders in the Building’), Kate Winslet (‘Lee’ and ‘The Regime’) and Sebastian Stan (‘The Apprentice’ and ‘A Different Man’) who secured two acting nominations each. Special honors include Viola Davis, who will receive the prestigious Cecil B. DeMille Award for her contributions to film, while Ted Danson will be honored with the Carol Burnett Award for his career in television. The Golden Globes will air live on CBS and stream on Paramount+ on January 5. #goldenglobes #awardseason #actor #director #film #hollywood #celeb #tv #streaming #cinema #boxoffice #wicked #thebear #cbs #paramount #popculture #comedy #musical #thriller #drama #news #story #instagood #reaction #reels #dietprada

BREAKING: Authorities have detained Luigi Mangione as a ‘strong person of interest’ at a Pennsylvania McDonalds in connection with the shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last Wednesday. Officials say he was found carrying a handwritten manifesto criticizing health insurance companies. It didn’t take long for internet sleuths to discover the suspect was valedictorian of his high school and an ex-Ivy League student–along with photos that are sure to fuel the thirst traps already circulating for the alleged shooter. After Thompson was fatally shot in front of a Manhattan Hilton last week, evidence left behind made the case even more intriguing. Bullet casings saying “deny,” “defend” and “depose” (three words used to mimic a phrase used by insurance to limit coverage) were found, along with a backpack in Central Park filled with Monopoly money. Since then, the shooter is seeming to emerge as a folk hero. By last Friday, a shooter look-alike contest was held in Washington Square Park, with participants wearing face coverings and outfits like those shown in NYPD surveillance photos. Over the weekend, a fake LinkedIn job posting for the CEO’s open position went viral, while elsewhere on the internet, a fanfic was released, titled “The Adjuster: Hero of the People (and an Excellent Lover).” Some have attempted to copy the shooter’s outfit, with over 700 similar looking Levi’s Sherpa Lined trucker jackets selling in the past 48 hours on Macys.com per Complex. A UnitedHealth Facebook post about the shooting has racked up more than 77K laughing emojis, with comments like “My empathy is out of network” and “I’m sorry, prior authorization is required for thoughts and prayers.” #breaking #usa #news #story #reels #truecrime #instagood #dietprada

Trump’s former media advisor Gina Loudon complained about “woke washing” the film Wicked as “anti white racism” by claiming Ariana Grande, who plays Glinda, is not white. “Let’s just start with the fact that they have Ariana Grande who’s obviously a Hispanic woman playing the part of a ditzy, blonde, white, really villain when it comes right down to it,” Loudon said on Real America’s Voice show American Sunrise. However, Grande is an Italian American with roots in Sicily and Abruzzo—a literal white woman — who on multiple occasions has stated how proud she is to be Italian, despite being criticized of race fishing. Either way, being Hispanic is not a race despite Loudon’s misconception. According to the Census Bureau, Hispanics can be of any race, because “Hispanic” is an ethnicity and not a race. Rather the word refers to a person with ancestry from a country where Spanish is the primary language. The co-chair of Women for Trump in 2020 continued saying, “For this particular movie, the racism and the racial appropriation, I just thought was offensive, frankly. All white people aren’t dumb and evil, and I just get kinda sick of that storyline.” To which we say ah yes, Glinda’s the known villain of Wicked and not Madame Morrible, whose name rhymes with horrible, played by Academy Award winner and woman of color Michelle Yeoh. Of course this is coming from a woman who wrote a book about how Trump is “the most sound-minded person to ever occupy the White House” where she falsely claimed she has a PhD in psychology. She has a PhD in human and organization systems from Fielding Graduate Institute. Have the Arianators gotten to her yet? Haliey Welch, who went viral this summer for her oral sex advice, launched her own Hawk Tuah cryptocurrency, dubbed $HAWK, on Wednesday–and in just ten minutes, the $490M value dropped by 95 percent to just $26.4M. Within 24 hours of the launch, a law firm has started gathering clients for a lawsuit and multiple social media users have claimed to file complaints with the SEC, per Quartz. Before the launch, Welch told Fortune her meme coin was “not just a cash grab,” but rather a “good way to interact with [her] fans,” despite once thinking crypto was “just a scam” and an “easy way for you to lose money.” However, after initial trading where the value of the coin erupted by 900 percent, the price collapsed by 95 percent a few hours later. Critics have accused Welch of a “pump-and-dump” scheme, in which fraudsters build hype for a stock or cryptocurrency to raise the price, then liquidate their tokens decimating their worth. One X user allegedly bought $35,000 worth of $HAWK, which decreased in value to only $2,000 ten minutes later. They tweeted, “I am a huge fan of Hawk Tuah but you took my life savings. I purchased your coin $Hawk that you were so excited about with my life savings and children’s college education fund as well.” At an X Spaces event on Wednesday night, Welch and her team tried to do damage control, insisting they had not sold their coins. During the conversation, crypto fraud investigator Stephen Findeisen, known on YouTube as Coffeezilla, said “This is one of the most miserable, horrible launches I’ve ever seen in my life.” Welch, who had mostly stayed quiet during the hour-long meeting, responded by saying “Okay, then why the fuck are you on?” Since then, $HAWK has slightly recovered at a $28 million market cap, but Welch should probably still talk tuah lawyer. #hawktuahgirl #hawktuah #crypto #scam #scammer #bitcoin #fraud #pumpanddump #stoinks #stockmarket #finance #business #scheme #wicked #memecoin #token #instagood #cashgrab #halieywelch #reels #threads #x #money #invest #investment #cryptocurrency #viral #story #news #dietprada

Billboard has named Queen Bey as the greatest pop star of the 21st century based on her “25 years of influence, impact, evolution.” Respect that, bow down bitches! The magazine has been unveiling its top 25 pop artists of the past 25 years since August, highlighting artists who have “exemplified pop greatness.” On Tuesday, the publication announced Beyoncé secured the coveted top spot. “The reasons why Beyoncé captured the top spot on our list were beyond numerous — ranging from her 25 years of timeless albums and singles, to her incalculable industry impact and influence on other artists, to her peerless raw talents as a singer and performer,” wrote Billboard’s Andrew Unterberger. “She does not chase trends or youth; even when collaborating with newer artists, she is able to meet them on common ground that does not result in either party being compromised or contorted. Instead, she chases greatness: fully realized artistic works that will add not only to her legacy, but to the culture and to the history of popular music.” “But perhaps the most important of all was her singular ability to create moments: indelible pieces of pop culture history that she has generated over the course of her quarter century of superstardom, which are first and foremost all quintessentially Beyoncé.” Building on her early beginnings with Girls Tyme and her iconic legacy with Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé has dominated Billboard’s charts with eight No. 1 albums, including her solo debut, ‘Dangerously in Love.’ As the most awarded artist in Grammy history with 32 wins, she’s poised to add to her trophy case next year with 11 more nominations for her record-breaking album, ‘Cowboy Carter.’ Billboard wrote that Bey’s commitment to “innovation, evolution and all-around excellence has made her the bar against which all other pop stars this century have long been measured,” and we couldn’t agree more. Thank you, Beyonce! 👑🐝 #beyonce #beyhive #billboard #pop #music #star #artist #singer #music #grammy #history #legacy #greatest #story #news #viral #destinyschild #bey #album #renaissance #cowboycarter #instagood #reels #reactions #dietprada

Ariana Grande was visibly moved when Drew Barrymore presented her with a magical surprise: the only known surviving wand from the iconic 1939 film, ‘The Wizard of Oz.’  “I have something that’s extremely exciting and special,” Barrymore teased on her talk show. “It was owned by the Smithsonian and now it’s owned in private hands. But for the purposes of our sit down, they loaned it to us. Bring out the original Glinda wand, please!” Grande was stunned. “Are you serious right now?” she exclaimed, before playfully walking away with the prop, joking, “Thank you, guys. It’s been fun. Bye!” Grande plays the role of Galinda/Glinda in Jon M. Chu’s ‘Wicked ‘film adaptation, following in the footsteps of Billie Burke, the original Glinda. This historic artifact, once on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, was sold at auction in 2019 for $400,075. The original design was too plain, so it was replaced by two more colorful ones for the film. Unfortunately, those were destroyed in a fire, making this surviving wand even more precious. Ryan Lintelman, a curator at the Smithsonian, described the wand as “the best surviving prop or costume piece to represent the character Glinda.” He added, “Glinda acts as a protector and guide to Judy Garland’s Dorothy as she navigates the fantastic land of Oz. Although this wand was probably only used in publicity photographs and not in the film’s production, it is likely the only surviving wand.”   Interesting to see how this wand, originally used for publicity, is casting magic once again—this time for ‘Wicked,’ now the highest-grossing film adaptation of a Broadway musical 🪄 #wicked #arianagrande #wickedmovie #movie #film #memorabilia #prop #smithsonian #artifact #hollywood #tv #glinda #witch #theaters #broadway #singer #musical#boxoffice #wand #magic #soundtrack #adaptation #actor #viral #news #story #instagood #reels #cinema #dietprada
