The name "Israel" was used for ~21% of that time (primarily ~1200 BCE–587 BCE and since 1948). Even the biblical Israel isn’t exactly the same as today’s state—its borders and context differ. The creation of modern Israel in 1948 was a pivotal moment, but it came with conflict, displacement, and decisions that fueled war—often with global powers’ interests, including profit, in play.
